Re: Jayson Tatum Thread
Last night Tatum became the fifth Celtic with 200 25+ point games, joining Sam Jones, Paul Pierce, John Havlicek and Larry Bird.

Hey JT is back in the top 5 on the MVP ladder. Surpassed Luka.

Embiid can have the stats and RS awards. JT is saying all the right things about trying to get rings.
Paul Pierce appreciation society.

Re: Jayson Tatum Thread (2024 All Star Starter)
Steph has 4 rings.
Understandable he's #1 in jersey sales.
But JT has yet to win an NBA championship and he's already #2.
If JT gets a ring, #0 will be #1 in jersey sales for a lot of years.

Embiid is between Morant and Ball in the part timers' corner where he belongs.

I want the record to show that I did my part to get White on that list. Not my fault NBA fans have no taste.

Re: Jayson Tatum Thread (2024 All Star Starter)
I know the majority want JT to get to the hole more, but right now it's not a good idea to keep attacking the rim when it's just the regular season.
What JT should do is go all out when it's the playoffs or finals.
Right now a few pull up 3s is fine.
It just lowers the chance of injury.

You can get stiffer stuff at Dairy Queen.

I 100% agree. I knew when he was in college and when Celtics drafted him, he was going to be a VERY good all around player, just not a true superstar who gets you over the hump. Some players have it, he just doesn't and most likely never will.

Re: Jayson Tatum Thread (2024 All Star Starter)
1) The best player on the last 5 teams to win the NBA title: Jokic, Steph, Giannis, LeBron, Kawhi
2) The age each of them was, the first time they won the title:
Jokic: 28
Steph: 27
Giannis: 26
LeBron: 27
Kawhi 28 (age when he won 2019 title since I can 't really say he led spurs to 2014 title since he had Duncan, Ginobili and parker on the team - who had all won a bunch of rungs together before Kawhi).
Jordan won his first ring at age 27.
Dirk was 32 when he won his first title. KG and Pierce were like 30 when we won in 2008. Hakeem was 31 when he won his first ring in 94.
The magic number seems to be in that age 26-28 range. - if not older. Tatum right now is 25. He'll be 26 during the 2024 playoffs. He's just now entering his window to win titles.
Steph won a ring at age 34. LeBron won a ring at 35. So Tatum could have a 9 year window (age 26 to 35) to try and win titles.
3) Can Tatum join that group? Objectively, I'd say he's got a good shot. Why?
-5x all-star
-2x all-NBA 1st team
-4 trips to conference finals
-1 trip to NBA finals
All that and he's still only 25. Who in NBA history has ever had that kind of resume by age 25? Idk if anyone has. LeBron? Kobe? maybe Wade, Russell, Kareem, Duncan, Shaq, Bird, Wilt, Magic? Hakeem?
Guess what, all those dudes led teams to titles. I'd say there's a good chance Tatum will too.
MJ didn't take the Bulls to an NBA finals till he was 27. Tatum did it at age 24.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

I'm not aware of any 1 guy that has Won a Championship, alone. I think that they All have to have good players around them.
Of late, there's been an emphasis on having a "Big Three". But, even if you have 5 Great Starters, you can't Win with just them.
You need a Decent Bench.
Tatum is just our Best Player. He doesn't have to be the Messiah.
This ain't old times. You have to beat a lot of really good players, on really good teams.
