You're making my point here, Fierce1. Are you saying just losing KP is a good excuse to lose by 30+ points to the Clippers today? I thought this team's top 6 was more than adequate that when we lose one key player, we will still be competitive enough to win? Only Tatum showed up today to play. Did that ever happen to the '08 team?
The '08 Team's worst loss in that season was an 18 point loss to the Jazz, and it was because Ray Allen got injured early in the game, and Pierce shot just 1 of 7. That's their worst loss of the season.
As opposed to this game, where the Celtics knew that KP was out and had time to prepare. Looks like they didn't.
You really can't compare this 2024 Celtics team to that 2008 Celtics team.
KG, Ray, and Pierce were 30 years old or older at that time.
JT, JB, and KP are still 28 years old or younger.
Those 08 guys were already in their prime and playing the best basketball of their careers.
This current Celtics team still has some growing up to do.
The good news is this Celtics team is good enough to win it all.
Can't use age as an excuse for our current trio. They are all basically in their primes now and are battle tested with numerous run in the EC and a Ginals appearance. KG, PP and Ray were just better, and that '08 team was just better than this crew we have now.
NBA players are in their prime when they're around 28-30 years old.
JT's body is not yet fully developed.
JB is a late bloomer, he still makes mistakes that a rookie makes.
And KP is just missing too many games.
Maybe right now KG, Pierce, and Ray are better, but JT, JB, and KP will most likely win multiple titles.
This is just the start something great for this current Celtics team.
