Yeah difference between the lottery then and now tho. Lottery then if we finished last I believe we were guaranteed top 3 pick. So we would’ve got luka no matter what probably he went #3. Also could’ve just got screwed and Dallas win the lottery and take him somehow. Dallas seemed like the perfect home for him

This isn’t a situation where someone snuck up on the league. There was PLENTY of evidence at the time that Luka should go first.

Luka will be 44 then. I think at that point there may even be a realistic chance that the thread title becomes relevant again but for a new reason: it will apply to Luka's yet to be conceived son Luka Jr.

It's very realistic to think that the Pistons will still be stuck in tank mode as they have already been mired in misery since the late 2000s. What's 20 more years?

We essentially drafted broken Blake Griffin the year Doncic was available. If we had our #12 pick that year, we might have ended up with Miles Bridges. So, maybe we dodged a bullet?

The sad part was that Blake was media-savvy, All-NBA for a year, we made the playoffs, and still couldn't leverage that to put butts in seats in our new arena. That's what we did instead of tanking for Luka.

Memory murky, but I believe svg wanted to move Dre, didn’t want to do the Blake move? Gores didn’t want to and wanted to go get Blake and make a run. Murky, like I said. So could be remembering wrong.
