I think its a good sign. It means he has discipline and ability to self-limit. Most mediocre gms would use those assets long time ago. Weltman has his problems but not spending assets is not one of them. He will make a move and then we can judge it. Right now he is propably looking at some bigger trades possibilities and trying to not pay frp for Brogdon, Jones. I think thats a good strategy.
Yes...NOT doing things is his specialty
He will, its not his money or draft picks
I hope so...I'm posting a lot of bitter stuff lately, but it just seems like Weltman HAS put himself in position to make a significant move RIGHT NOW...with the perfect storm of expirings - who happen to NOT be part of the core, extra picks, young guys coming around, and facing rookie extensions looming...it seems like a masterstroke to be where we are right now for him to hit it out of the park. I felt similarly last summer with two lottery picks in a strong draft, etc.
Being inactive at the TD changes the narrative from "all of the patience and discipline and evaluation leading to this moment..." back to "these guys don't do anything" for me. Fingers crossed.
