I think they are going to have to do it. Pistons will come hard. A position of need and OG is top tier.

I think OG signs a 3+1 and then can sign a 10 year vet extension/contract after that.

Someone correct me if I am wrong on the 10 year thing.

Would OG take a 2 year MAX from Detroit or a 5 year deal from the Knicks starting at $35 Million?

Just an FYI, if the Knicks need to MAX OG Anunoby, they cannot trade Fournier for a guy like Brogdon without being over the second tax apron next year unless they let Hartenstein leave and even then, they would still be over the first apron.

Julius Randle $30,317,760
Jalen Brunson $24,960,001
Josh Hart $18,144,000
Mitchell Robinson $14,318,182
Donte DiVincenzo $11,445,000
Miles McBride $4,710,144
Quentin Grimes $4,296,682
Jericho Sims $2,092,344
OG Anunoby $42,601,800
Isaiah Hartenstein $12,500,000
Malcolm Brogdon $22,500,000
17th Overall $3,857,520
24th Overall $2,853,840
Minimum $1,168,824
Minimum $1,168,824

Total Salary $196,934,921
Cap Space -$54,934,921
Tax Space -$24,334,921
1st Apron Space -$17,334,921
2nd Apron Space -$6,834,921

Knicks have been best in the league since the OG Anunoby acquisition. I wouldn't tamper with the chemistry whatsoever. What B-lister on the market is an upgrade over Doug V, for example?

Knicks already won the trade deadline. Their current regime is top shelf.

Great breakdown. I think the OP is a little high on the OG number (I assume the starting number is 35, but also light on Hartenstein, where I think the number starts at 15). That adjustment would take NY within 2mm of the 2nd apron.

If NY acquires Brogdon, I think we would be heading in the direction of 1 out of 3 of Grimes/DVV/Hart not being on the roster. Also, it shouldn’t be difficult to get off the McBride contract even if you have to attach a 2nd to it (why that contract was signed before McBride proved himself as a rotation player still doesn’t make sense).

And to the point above, given Leon’s draft history’s it’s hard to see him keeping both 1st rd picks unless another trade is made as the rotation is too crowded.

The point being, it’s easy to work around the 2nd apron next season and under the circumstances - a real shot at the number 2 seed - it’s worth being a little aggressive if your holding onto most of your draft capital and not taking on long term money.

Interesting thought - flipping this would the Knicks offer OG a 1 + 1 max to keep flexibility?

$35,000,000
$37,800,000
$40,824,000
$44,089,920
$47,617,114
----------------
$205,331,034

or

$42,601,800
$44,731,890
----------------
$87,333,690

That's $14.5 Million more in the first 2 years with Detroit's offer.

LEbron has been crystal clear he's never playing for less. That he understands why Duncan and Dirk and some others have, but that he never wants to be the reason a team asks a player to take less. So Lebron will be a max player fully gtd. None of this MLE or partial imo. And good on him for it.

the predictions for miles bridges are WILD in this thread. LMAO

there is no way in hell this man is getting the MLE.

Hes 25yrs old and averaging 21pts and 7.5 rebounds and 3 assists while shooting 36% from 3. This guy will be the steal of the offseason and i hope Masai is all over this.

If hes getting the MLE Raptors should be all over that.

I mean the only team likely to give him more than an MLE is Charlotte and that with tons of ungtd money. You do realize why right? His legal troubles aren't behind him, and he's given nobody any reason to think more incredibly stupid decisions aren't coming. No team is investing a big long-term deal in this guy. Would just be a really bad idea. He's a good player, but he's not a great player. Not the kind of player to take that kind of risk with.

I think he gets 4/$75M or so but with only the first year gtd. And only from Charlotte whose already taken the PR hit. If Detroit or another cap space team gives him a big gtd deal I will eat plates and plates of crow but it will be such a stupid signing.

He needs to get his crap together. Maybe if he is up in Canada away from his ex and bad influences it would be the best case scenario.
