Miami vs Phoenix, 2023/01/29. 7:30 PM. Kaseya Center, Miami, Fl.

Miami Heat: 24-22
Phoenix Suns: 26-20

This is an important game. Miami needs a win pretty badly. Let's get the job done.

Miami is 32-38 vs Phoenix all-time in regular season. They've never played in the postseason obviously.
Miami is 16-18 vs Phoenix in Miami.
Miami lost the first 16 games against Phoenix.
Miami had a 12-game winning streak vs Phoenix in the 2010-2015 period.

Image

Miami have a 6 game losing streak and are 3-7 over the last 10.
Phoenix have lost the last two games. Booker scored 44 pts in the last loss vs Orlando.

Image

Heat's Possible Starting lineup:

(Scary) Terry Rozier, Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Haywood Highsmith, Edrice (Bam) Adebayo

Miami Bench: Duncan Robinson, Jaime Jaquez Jr, Caleb Martin, Kevin Love, Nikola Jović, Thomas Bryant, Josh Richardson

2-way players probably won't play. Oscar Robinson is also in Sioux Falls.

Image

Miami Injuries:

Dru Smith (out for regular season)

You might remember the last game in Phoenix:

But here's another Grayson Allen video from last year:

Image

Phoenix Possible Starting lineup:

Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Grayson Allen (heat killer), Kevin Durant, Drew Eubanks

Phoenix Bench: Eric Gordon, Keita Bates-Diop, Udoka Azubuike, Chimezie Metu, Josh Okogie, Jordan Goodwin, Nassir Little

Phoenix Injuries:

Nurkic (thumb sprain, might play)
Bol Bol (right foot strain, should not play)
Damion Lee (right meniscus surgery - out)

Image

Comments: 1. Feb 8, 2024 is trade deadline.
2. Miami has a free roster space. Signing a 15th player also adds more eligibility for 2-way players. It will happen.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Our lack of defense (which for me is a thermometer of the team effort) has been APPALLING. There is no excuse. The offense is another problem altogether, but a lack of defense (under Spo!!!) is an insult.

Hoping it changes this game, but we all know it's a bigger problem. We need sustained success that comes with serious effort.

https://heatnation.com/team-news/jimmy-butlers-friend-goes-off-on-whats-wrong-with-miami-heat-after-latest-loss/

JB's friend had some words...he suspects Bam had been figured out and needs help, Herro didn't fit, but last game Herro was trying to shoot more and dribble less, yet he has the highest usage on the team, then Bam. Jimmy doesn't get that many touches because plays aren't ran for him and the front office is being firm in holding picks vs going all in. He knows who we didn't pursue because of picks; I strongly assume he's not talking about Dame since he and his agent fkd it up.

He's doing Jimmy a disservice by putting that out there, but to his points. Bam needs to do more with the touches he gets, and bloody hell, this team can't afford to miss free throws at all. Adding a traditional center to get rebounds would likely clog the lanes. Look how Jokic plays though. His passing opens spaces for everyone and he even hits 3s, while still being a boss in the paint. That's what we need from Bam too. He needs to score and also make it easier for the others to score. Put a center inside (someone like WCJ for example) isn't going to fix that.

Also, Herro shouldn't be allowed to smirk until he takes a charge:

I hadn't noticed that image used for Herro for the starting 5, found that it's been used before, wow, he looks scared in that picture, why would they use that one?
