Re: Around the NBA 12
It made sense to not take 2 centers in the teens. What we really missed was not picking one of the wings, especially since we supposedly liked Eason.

Re: Around the NBA 12
We have to develop Kai, Bouk and Thor. Too many young guys mate.
Fair enough to those saying Duran and Williams were too similar to play and accept a lesser role sharing minutes. The problem I have though is that Kupchak's reasoning was that we had too many young guys. So he waters down the pick for another 5 picks within a year or two of the pick he traded! You can also never have enough talent and trades are available to improve fit if you have talented but redundant players.
All the while blind Freddy could see by the time of the 2022 draft that Jones and Bouknight had absolutely nothing going for them as NBA players. No redeeming qualities at all other than "athletic" and "long" (in the case of Kai only). Thor flattered to deceive for about an extra year before we figured out he wasn't going to be good enough to play NBA minutes. But the sunk cost fallacy on Kai and Bouk cost us the chance to draft good players.

I was locked in on either of the Centers and Eason. Taking both Centers made no sense to me.
Criticism is wholly on trading the pick and not taking Eason

Miami lost 7 in a row. What was the protection on that pick?

Re: Around the NBA 12
Heat Reddit is blowing up about how bad Rozier's defense is and wondering where this came from.
They've been terrible since the trade.
He's just a negative, losing player. You can't get fooled by the shiny stats. We smoked Miami in that trade.
Rozier/Herro is one of the most unplayable lineups in the entire NBA. They will lose most games playing those two together

The New York Knicks reportedly "covet" Tari Eason, according to David Vertsberger of SNY.
Knicks sure do have a type. Eason, Anunoby, DeVincenzo, Josh Hart, Grimes, Brunson. Two way players. Guys who are effortful defenders but can still score the ball. Makes a ton of sense for a team to have a type, especially one that fits the coach.

aka the perfect team to put around LaMelo, but instead we chose the Bouknight/NSJ/Rozier style of player

It is early, but NSj selected 27th. There is maybe 1 guy with a case picked after him and that is GG Jackson who was touted for pure potential and does not fit this perfect LaMelo counterpart build at all.

Puts the lie to teams needing to look for a "star" instead of a serviceable archetype first and foremost. But, yes, let's have more of those undersized combo guards instead of those hard-nosed two-way guys other teams keep finding.

I'm fine with the NSJ pick. It's just that Mitch has had a hardon acquiring that archetype of player... ISO scorers/secondary ball handlers... when its so obvious this team needs defensive wings and shooting. Besides OG who was too expensive, players like Hart, Eason, Grimes, DeVincenzo, Caruso, Melton, etc. where all available in some way or another over the last 5 years but Mitch opted to go for one-way offense players.

The guy I wanted the Hornets to pick at 27 was Colby Jones. Maybe not a widely known a name. The Hornets actually picked him at #34, but my happiness was short lived as they traded him to the Celtics, who moved him to the Kings for Jordan Walsh. I bring this up because Colby Jones is a 6'6 guard known more for his defense and playmaking than his offense. In other words, a player in the 3&D mold of players cited by amcoolio, and who I thought might make a ton of sense in the backcourt next to LaMelo.
It would be crazy for me to argue that Colby Jones is a more talented individual player than NSJ. NSJ certainly looks like he has the pure potential to blossom into a Quickley-like scorer, or a even star like Maxey. But if you talk about value-added fit, it wouldn't surprise me if Colby Jones turned into a 3&D archetype guard and valuable rotation guy on a successful NBA team.

Re: Around the NBA 12
Jones currently shooting a scorching 1/13 from three in 15 games for Kings.
Not saying he can't become someone eventually but he is a full 2 years older than NSj and I think NSj already is the better player.

For a 19 year old Nick Smith looks fantastic, so naturally we're playing guys on their way out of the league more.

Miami fans on their forum were happy with Roziers defense today, definitely better than Herros.
I knew Spoelstra would find a way to make it work

Re: Around the NBA 12
The George-to-Clippers deal holds the distinction for most first-round picks included in a trade. But depending on the player, a megatrade with six or seven first-rounders could happen in the foreseeable future.
With small-market teams such as Utah, Oklahoma City, New Orleans and San Antonio sitting on massive first-round pick stockpiles (they have 36 tradable first-rounders between them at the moment) and big-market destinations such as New York and Brooklyn (15 tradeable firsts between them) holding considerable assets, there might be no slowing pick inflation if/when bidding starts.

Curious what team has a megastar that could justify that return that would also be willing to move their star to reset with a pick package like that.

Watching CHI and MIN in OT, and Chicago is rolling out Drummond and Vuc on the floor together and somehow they're out playing Gobert and KAT.
