That is the new definition for "crazy glue"
While some people may still want to trade him for Scoot, Monte Morris or TyTy Washington, I view his value right now is about the same as Ant on this team. Wish he up the over scoring avg 2 or 3 points. His post scoring is just as important as 3pt. Just wish he is not so nutty on the court and don't act like a bull in a china shop (at least cut it down and use more power dribble like Lebron)

Three schools of thought on this.
1. Sell high. Karl’s value is at peak right now and the players he brings back could take us from great to unbeatable.
2. Don’t touch. We have a great record, are on a good trajectory, and everything works because of Karl. You don’t mess with the glue lest the pieces fall apart.
3. Time bomb. With the salary situation Karl is the odd man out. Be it this year, next year, or the year after Karl has to go, and he should be traded for a group of players who are collectively better than the sum of their parts.
Some days I am in camp 1, some days in camp 2, but recently I have been living in camp 3. I could see us getting 2 or 3 solid players for Karl and Kyle and not only improve this season, but extend the timeline. I think we can keep Rudy at a discount after this contract ends, and Mike is the only constraint on the Ant window. Getting a solid PG like Murray or maybe a project like Cade plus some extra talent could be the secret sauce to surviving the aging of Mike.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread: Part Two**
I think KAT is ride or die. He has been there for this team through it and all and I think he has done everything you can ask for (for the most part and within his capabilities) from a star. He isn't problematic, he's a pro, he welcomes every teammate. He's pretty much a perfect Star except the ridiculous mental flaws he has. For whatever reason he has those killer mistakes and Stray voltage that can just murder your team in games and as simple as they seem to fix, he can't seem to do it all together. I absolutely do not get it, I don't know why he can't fix the seemingly simple things that would totally change his game from really good to great. Stop the hooking, stop the falling, stop the complaining, keep your hands down. Do those things and his value blasts way up.
Still he can't seem to do it consistently and because of that, I will always be open to the possibility of moving him. I still wouldn't do it lightly but I do think we could trade him for pieces, and find a different PF who is less talented but just fits his role better and gives us similar production without the flaws.
We could get someone who may never give us a 40 points game or amazing shooting but they won't fall to the ground or create 5 turnovers from stupid offensive possessions. Their lack of production would be made up for with their lack of game-killing mistakes. I think that is possible to find. That said it would create another massive gap on this team where we already have a huge problem with not having enough scorers.
Any trade we make has to bring back some players who can put he ball in the hoop.

Cade is interesting. I would have thought he was untouchable. But this year he’s shown he’s more a #2 vs a #1. He has some Pippin vibes and might be a good sidekick to Ant. Plus, Detroit has played arguably better putting the ball in Ivey’s hands while Cade’s been out. KAT would make a nice PF fit to Duren. An Ivey, Duren, KAT core plus maybe Thompson might have a future.

Although Det has some young, interesting talent. I think trading Towns to the worst team in the league would hurt the image/culture the wolves are trying to build. A guy in Towns' position is typically sent to a contending team as a thank you for services/loyalty rendered.
Other players might look and say, "you see how they treated Karl"? Not saying I agree with that way of thinking but it could come into play should Towns ever be considered for a trade.

21-10-6 on 6 of 15 shooting, 2-4 from deep, and 7-8 from the line. Karl is solid even on his less efficient nights.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the logic behind this take. A year/few years after KAT entered the league, he and his potential was considered untouchable.. essentially was considered by many to have the highest value of any player in the league.. many articles back in the day of gm's choosing karl in this light..
His mental fortitude is pretty questionable. Has shown an inability to carry a team, let alone shown capacity as a leader.. And has played poorly in his limited chances in the playoffs. Why should this organization do him any favors. Guy has done nothing for us. Give him an opportunity and a fresh start elsewhere. Disagree nba circles would frown upon the Wolves culture for trading him to detroit.

Some really great stuff in here in regards to KAT and his willingness to put team before ego.

This is the same guy who said he would welcome Rudy and did. Who changed position without a single complaint, actively looked for Rudy in both season, and had the most assists to Rudy of anyone on the team (including Mike.) This is a guy who used to average double doubles, but now accepts 8.? rebounds per game without complaint. Likewise this is a guy who welcomed Ant as a rookie and gladly allows Ant more shots than himself every night despite being the more efficient shooter. His teammates love him, his coaches praise him for being unselfish and the glue that holds the team together. He has overcome tremendous adversity from injury and discord (General Soreness,) to losing 8 family members (including his mother,) to Covid, to thinking he was going to die from a severe case of Covid. Through it all he still smiles, still works his *** off and is still loyal to Minnesota. So no, you can complain about his game, but you cannot complain about the man, or his style of giving interviews. No sir, that doesn’t fly.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread: Part Two**
The only people we should consider trading for KAT are franchise cornerstones. Anything less is an insult to this man.
People are treating trading KAT as if we're the 2019 Raptors and we are trading DeMar for Leonard. That's not what's on the table for us.
We're not getting Curry, Jokic, Doncic, Antetokoumpo, etc for KAT we're primarily talking downgrades.

You say that a lot. If you’re not careful you will run out of MFA. Either that or it will just fall clean off. If the way you respond to takes you don’t like is to attack the response for not respecting free speech, then you need to consider whether you respect free speech.

Another man telling another man he “cannot complain” is just outright disrespectful. Who are you to say what another man can or cannot complain about?
P.S. it’s a rethorical question. You have have the right, but damn it’s disrespectful.

You’ve literally called other men soft and mentally weak… perhaps you should sit out the whole explaining to other posters what is and isn’t disrespectful. Especially with that ridiculous freedom of speech nonsense you posted.

If you don’t understand the difference between analyzing a players game on a basketball forum to that of directly telling other forum posters they “cannot complain” then I will pray for you.

If he prays for you and you pray for him does that cancel out? I am always confused. Praying for someone is usually a good thing. But then you take it and pervert it with a negative context. So if you pray for him to see your point of view and he prays for you to see his point of view, does that mean God changed both your positions? Or I am confusing god with a wish granting genie?

lol shift those goal posts some more. Like you do realize other posters can see your post history right?
Save your prayers for someone who doesn’t know freedom of speech isn’t someone saying something online that you disagree with and your fee fees get hurt.

Keeping it real, the above conversation meets the threshold of "derailing". Let's drop it, absolutely zero value is being generated and nobody is changing their mind on it.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
