Stockpiling picks is a good idea for us. There will be teams like the Hawks and the (last season) Raptors who chose to build that we could pick talent off of.
I'd guess the next team to blow it up will be the Bulls, Hawks, and the Warriors. I would take a sturdy ex all star vet that can be a starting caliber 3 and D player.
There's a benefit to having a playable star player, with leadership qualities, next to a bunch of under 25 guys. I don't think we're there as of now but a few seasons down the road after we've tanked.
The Jazz have Kessler as a traditional center type, but OKC and the Pels have the picks to slightly overpay for Poeltl.
This would make some sense at the deadline:
NOP - Poeltl, #9 (HOU)
TOR - JV, Dyson Daniels, Oladipo, Landale,
HOU - Bruce Brown, #17 (NOP)
Raptors get a big young defensive guard in Dyson Daniels and expirings, maybe keep JV on a 1+1 to have a center while we rebuild.
Houston drops down 8 picks but they have a ton of youth to develop and add a gritty wing on an expiring they can use this season and next or include in a trade if the right guy comes along. They probably want a backup center in the draft anyways so might even be the same guy.
Pelicans get an affordable center and stay just under the tax and move up 8 picks, but it costs them Dyson Daniels.
