Checks notes -
Yeah I have been in favor of shopping Fultz for a veteran PG even if that doesn't fix our long term problems. A PG who is a legitimate 40% from 3 on 4+ attempts per game, and can do pick and roll should be all it takes to make the playoffs much less play-ins.
I don't feel the same sense of urgency as the group here. I just admit it that you are right. That being said, the only move I see happening is Okeke for a 2nd and Jett taking his bench spot at the end come the trade deadline.

I don't expect anything but maybe moving Fultz, if they agreed with him he won't resign.
other than that - nothingness.

Fultz for a future 2nd, that we will sell for cash later. Sounds like hard work for our FO, thank god they can go on vacation again after that till Draft day.

They need to go all in. This is the year you get into the playoffs . Go get what you need to do so.

I just want to say that the front office has done a great job so far. They have created a nice young team in three years when the team seemed like it had stagnated. And they should be applauded for this as many teams struggle with the rebuilding process. With that being said, it is getting to the point where the Magic have to make a move for the future of the team. It doesn’t necessarily have to be done at the trade deadline as the Magic are not title contenders but it does have to happen by the offseason.

To be honest, front office job is to ressist pressure and use assets as late as possible. Not acting when your team is losing is actually harder than using assets on short term upgrades. I can see it already, 2026, Paolo and Franz not even in their primes and people cursing on front office becouse they used most of the assets too soon :p
To be precise i expect them to improve point guard position without using any real assets. Every moron can deal frp for Jones we must first explore other options.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I think the key to understanding the value of Fultz and Isaac is to stop referring to them as people. They really at this point should be referred to as “Fultz’s contract” and “Isaac’s contract” as their value is so far less in transaction terms to their contracts.
I think both have value, but primarily to use to bring in longer term contracts with better players…which the front office really should look at doing in the next week. -IF they are serious about competing and leveraging the assets they have, which remains to be seen.

He's purely a salary match as an expiring. Not a player of any value.

Yup. Exactly why I dont think we’ll get even a 2nd for him.
Him moving will likely be part of a package. A 2nd rounder straight up for Fultz would warrant the gm trading for him to be fired immediately. No questions asked.
Its honestly so sad to see Fultz’ fall from grace, its like seeing pet slowly passing away. You invest so much time and effort… and its gone…

If it helps, see him as a wounded pet others had already given up on. There is a scene in this fictional movie scenario where an old man puts his hand on Weltman’s shoulder and says, “You did all you could. It’s time to say goodbye.”
-At least that’s how it should play out. The fact that Fultz is still starting when healthy this late in his “last” season worries me unless it’s a trade showcase.

eyriq wrote:We need more transparency from them, period. They pride themselves on running a clandestine operation. The meme that no one knows what Weltman is doing is tired and old. They're so damn clandestine that NBA fans probably don't even know we exist cuz they haven't seen a nationally televised Magic game in years. I'm starting to correlate the lack of national attention and exposure for players with our pride in running a clandestine operation. And frankly, I think it's pathetic and tired. At the end of the day, this is an entertainment business and if the magic don't contribute to the rumor mill, which drives viewership, maybe there's a bit of quid pro quo and we get left out? Either way, Weltman is a bit too precious with his secrets and he needs to be more transparent with the fans.Black and Blue wrote:eyriq wrote:Yeah, could be. It's like we are watching the plan unfurl at the wrong speed. Need some time lapse to see the evolution.
Exactly. You make a great point about the plan being slow and it being tough to quite understand it as a result. I’ll add that plans stretched over a long period of time have a greater chance of not working, due to the insane level of variables and the fact we are dealing with actual humans here (which is as unpredictable as it gets).
For me personally, I’ve grown to have a healthy level of distrust in any rebuild plan that takes a long time without any updates or details being given on it. Yes it can work out, but more often than not you wind up with a Cleveland Browns-esque plan where the GM gets fired after a 7 year rebuild that stalls and the fans are told to once again have patience.
Weltman has prided himself on playing his cards close to the vest, but an update on the rebuild to fans at some point this off-season feels like it would help fans regain that faith.
Magic fans need to stop selling out the arena every home game and bite the management in their pockets. I’m fed up with this organization
