Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Dejounte Murray pg 13
I'm way more concerned about Bobby than Dame. Bobby has been brutal for a while now. His defense and rebounding have regressed (stonehands on the glass this year), and he's even more of a blackhole on offense. Those 10 second iso post possessions are some of the worst offense we can conjure up, and he's doing it more than ever.
Assuming we can't extract Caruso from the Bulls, would we do something for Carter?

Bobby is a bad defender, that can score in average efficiency in the regular season by taking long 2s. He has been a liability in the postseason. His only real positive attribute is rebounding. He had a use when we did not have enough scoring (and again only in the regular season) now he is a black hole that gets shots from better players.
Just trade him for a athletic PF/C that can play defense

Sure, but name the player. They just don't exist.

Didn't Bobby just cook Boston? His rebounding regression was due to Griffins system. Bobby has been back on the boards since Griff got the ax. Bobby isn't perfect, but he's a good player.
Carter isn't a playoff caliber player, we've already seen that.

Bobby isn't a playoff guy either. Just look at his playoff numbers.ShootingtheJ wrote:Siefer wrote:I'm way more concerned about Bobby than Dame. Bobby has been brutal for a while now. I'd actually say Carter was never given a chance in the playoffs. Guy lights it up all year with great shooting stats while playing good D, then just gets benched while no one else could make a shot. Due to his height I'm skeptical here (though of course better on ball than what we have) with Dame but last year he should've gotten some minutes, we'd now know a bit more now. But there is certainly rosters out there where last year's Carter can play backup mins in the playoffs.

Would have been more interested if we were keeping AG. Pass on trading brook unless it materially improves us

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Dejounte Murray pg 13
I'm against trading Bobby for a few reasons. First of all, I think he's playing out of character this season due to not having a leader at HC to keep him in check. I think he's overcompensating on offense and acting out a bit too much on defense this year because he feels like we're missing that spark. Bobby sees himself as a leader of this team from the championship days, and Griff's team was basically leaderless. Doc will get Bobby settled back into his role.
Secondly, since we let PJ walk, I'm a big believer in bad juju when trading away a "heart of the franchise/fan favorite" type player like Bobby. I believe we lost a lot in the locker room when we let PJ go, and I feel like it would be even worse if we shipped Bobby out. I understand that we might get a better player on paper, but I think Bobby provides that edge that all championship teams need.
I'm aware that Bobby has regressed, but I think he's much better than he's been playing this season. I think he can improve under Doc.
I think there's still a package to be made with Marjon/Pat/picks that will get us a decent PoA defender.

Wonderful trade for Milwaukee - however, (personal opinion) this would be a horrible trade for Brooklyn. a late 20241st and a few late 2nds plus a handful or rotation pieces. Rather have O'Neale and Finney Smith over the collection going their direction in the proposed trade.

MartyConlonOnTheRun wrote:I think people forget how little Bud trusted Bobby in the 2021 with the #DNPs/only getting minutes when Giannis got hurt. There were times in the early rounds where he was clearly out of position or gave zero resistance.
I've quietly been on the side that Bobby resigned not as a favor, but self-interest. I think teams know who is and his faults. He was a 14/9 23-year-old and only got a 2/31 with a team option second year (Part of that is him being a head case which hasn't totally gone away). Teams saw the Knicks experience and have no desire to give a player of Bobby's skill set a big long-term contract. Bucks couldn't afford to let him go and were willing to sign him as they couldn't sign anyone else.
PJ's minutes also ramped up a lot more and made Bobby less necessary, more matchup dependent.

Yeah, Claxton has been my target as well but I just don't see how we get it done.

We're not getting Claxton for our junk and I don't see how anyone thinks you could throw him in closing lineups with Giannis anyways.

maybe I am harsh with Bobby but I consider all his "heart", "edge" etc fake. He beats his chest, he claps his hands, he is getting low on defensive guard, he rolls his eyes, he shouts to the crowd, he picks fights with the Niangs and Olyniks of this world while being a soft defender and getting torched on defense and on offense he shoots mainly long jumpers. A "heart" of the team plays first for the team, Bobby never passes, he plays for his stats.
I don't question his toughness if a brawl breaks out but I don't particularly care about that, I care more about toughness in the context of the game and there it is more show than reality
