Which prospects?
Martinez, Barger & Palmegiani.
I dont see any of those guys making the jump for real at bats this season

Pretty big deal, especially for a Toronto athlete.

I didn't realize he was the main cover athlete, assumed it was just the Canadian cover. Kinda shocking he's on it with the season he had.

How do you know? You can say that about just about any rookie prior to spring training. Yes, they need to prove themselves, but just because the Blue Jays have a lamentable record of graduating their most highly rated prospects to their own major league roster - as opposed to trading them - doesn't mean that one of that trio isn't going to break through this season, either in the spring or after a month or two of the AAA season.

He's worst than Belt imo, he's healthier and hits for a higher average but Belt washes him in OPS+ and WRC+. Also he had like -6 OAA in 7 games at 3rd idk how much we want him out there.
It's still a decent because its short and Turner can still hit 25+ homeruns with decent OPS. Verse the mystery box that is Soler who probably wanted more years + money.

Turner is not worse than Belt. Have you checked Belt's hitting profile? He had a K% of 35% last year - that's insane - the only reason he didn't hit sub-Mendoza is 0.370 BABIP which is about 50 points higher than his career - Belt is due to regression back to 0.210 hard.
Turner's hitting is not the old-ball-player Three-True-Outcomes so he has aged more stable / gracefully. Although there are signs he is due for a fall off a cliff moment (see his deteriorating #'s against high fastball)

I don't like this contract of 13M as it takes us above last year's payroll despite a huge hole at 3B, but I prefer the gamble on Turner than Belt for the next season

I mean I was comparing the production Belt gave us verse what Turner will give us nobody wants Belt back obviously. But Turner probably isn't giving us 136 OPS+ from the DH spot, maybe he plays more so he might equal that value in raw production (he's still 39 so who knows) but based on 2023 Belt vs 2024 Turner he's not as good. But he shouldn't be that much worse. I see the strategy get cheap options to replace what we had in Chapman/Belt with IKF/Turner and hope Kirk/Springer/Vlad/Varsho bounce back to make up the difference and then some.

Though last year the cover athlete was Jazz Chisholm Jr. Mike Trout has never been on the cover (maybe its a rights thing) but couldn't. Couldn't they use someone like Ronald Acuna?
