Here's hoping they didn't massacre it with AI smoothing and denoising like True Lies (although it looks like the same shop did this conversation). So much of this auto-processed stuff looks uncanny, especially human faces.

You had Band of Brothers in the 00s, The Pacific in the 10s and now Masters of Air in the 20s. One great WW2 series per decade seems reasonable.

What we really need is a movie based on Lietenant Bill Harris and the book Valor.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

One of the reasons I love Memorial Day is because I can DVR a bunch of old war movies on TCM & then watch them when I have nothing else going on. Battle of the Bulge & The Bridge on the River Kwai are my 2 personal favorites.

Speaking of Dad ****, my folks are traveling for 50 days starting this weekend. My dad asked me if I would download some stuff for him to watch. His exact texts I got today:

Matt if you could download some movies like interstellar, any mission impossible, matt Damon, Liam Neeson, Red1/2, the covenant Daniel Craig, west wing, justified really anything you think I might like

Jason Statham Bruce Willis Stallone Arnold movies would be options too

Dad, no problem.

Saw that today. I had high expectations but didn't like it. Was really bored. But maybe the old man will like it.

A movie about Robert Smalls would be incredible as well.

That bombing scene was intense. And to think those guys had to do that 25 - 30 times. Zero chance I could have lasted in a plane during WWII....or a submarine for that matter.

I constantly wonder if I'd have rather been a part of a bomber crew or be forced to storm machine-gun nests on Omaha Beach and honestly.....give me the beach.

Anyone watching “True Detective?”

I like the direction they took (two women detectives) although Jodie Foster’s character is not as compelling as “Navarro.” Setting and mystery is on par with season one, so far. I’m liking it, no real criticisms. I do think so far it lacks the chemistry seasons 1 + 3 had between its main detectives.

Did not realize that the actress playing Navarro was a former boxer. They definitely chose someone who looks the part of the character she's playing (can't stand it when they cast some rail-thin model/actress for an "intimidating" cop or soldier role), but at the same time, I don't know if she really has the acting chops to not stick out like a sore thumb next to Foster. Really my only complaint though. I'm already putting it as the best season since S1, and I even liked season 3 quite a bit.

I watched the first episode of TD, liked it, and then forgot about it. I need to keep better track of stuff I'm watching. I have watch lists on all of my streamers but I still forget to go back to some of them.

Jodie Foster is an amazing actress, but her character is not very interesting (yet). The lady playing Navarro is obviously not an all time great actress, but there are a lot of things I am interested in regarding her character. It will be interesting to see how things go from here (the next few episodes will start to answer questions and mysteries, and require acting chops).

I too, loved seasons 1 and 3. I think these types of shows work best when the mystery is possibly supernatural, but maybe explainable. Creates a lot of intrigue.

Spoiler:
I think the reveal is probably going to mirror AMC’s “the Terror” where the arctic beast is quasi real but maybe a metaphor for man’s inability to survive in the region without exploiting it.
