Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD
Just to piggyback off of psubs choice for each selection. (as of now, of course subject to change lol)..
TOR - Zach Risacher (I REALLY like his skillset) OR
Tidjane Salaun (just about started playing yet already this good & better physical tools)
IND - Svonomir Ivisic (* I'm not even sure I think he won't end up top 10)
OKC/LAC - Tyler Smith (doubt he's still there) Ulrich Chomche (try to make him & BIg Z or new "Gasol/Ibaka" lol trade Yak next yr)
DET - One of Poplar, Edwards, Dadiet or Ajinca (get a little wing depth)

I dunno man. He better be a god-like defender because he might not be able to make shots at all in the NBA. Tonight he had 0 points in 27 mins taking 1 shot. His game might work out like Herb Jones or OG but risking a lotto on a pure defender that isn't a C is risky.
Especially now in this NBA. The Pacers almost have their entire 10 man rotation scoring 10 or more points. You have to shoot and pass and be big to play in the NBA. Not saying no defense but way more balanced two way play.
Raps have after years of going all in on defense see that they need to lean on skilled players to win. I suspect they will love guys like Sarr, Filipowski, Buzelis, Williams if they keep their lotto.
Ausur Thompson can't shoot so isn't able to earn more minutes on the worst team in the league. The Piston finally moved Killian Hayes to the bench regulary. Marcus Sasser is getting more PT.
I find it ironic that the same people criticizing teenagers playing in European pro leagues for not being able to "shot create" are simultaneously advocating for 21-year-old Sophomores who haven't demonstrated the ability to shoot even a little, and who have rudimentary handles. Make it make sense.
Say what you want about OG but he showed he could shoot at least a little in college (44.8% from 3 as a Freshman). He made 27 of 74 threes in 50 games (36.5%). In comparison Dunn has only made 11 of 41 threes in 52 games (26.8%). Fewer attempts and fewer makes in more games.
Exactly. My issue with Dunn is the shot volume and what seems like a declining number of jump shots. It's Ben Simmon's like. Him shooting 58% from the FT line is also not convincing that he can make gains.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD
If we keep the 6th pick or jump and get an offensive guard like Topic or Sheppard, no doubt in my mind we'll take Dunn if he's there with the Pacers pick. Dude is definitely a special defender and while he's a god awful shooter, nothing makes me think that shot is absolutely broken as the form isnt awful. Some guys improve on their shot and some guys dont, but i think its a risk worth taking with him, especially if we keep our own pick.

Genuine question because I haven’t watched much of Reed yet but what separates him from being any better than say Podz??
Better competition, better defense, less self creation, slightly less height, more lateral quicks, worse rebounding. Probably less WIM(wants it more) just cause it's hard to beat Podz in that category.
Podz played with bad teammates in college against worse competition, but that means teams were defending him like he was prime Steph Curry. Sheppard plays against better players, but isn't the focus of the defense. As RBC mentioned Podz has more moves to be able to score, but Sheppard is more athletic and can get his shot off better as Podz has a quick, but low release.

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate Dunn's game and think he can carve out a role in the NBA as a connective piece like a Shawn Marrion or Bruce Brown. I just found it funny that someone could in one breath question the drafting of an 18 yearold for lacking shot creation ability, then in the same breath advocate for taking a guy that's 2-3 years older and who has no discernable shooting ability. Ben Simmons is another great example you're bringing up. The bar for players who can't shoot to contribute is very high, especially if you're not a center or big man. Even then look at Yak. He's virtually unplayable at the and of games due to his shooting limitations.

I have Risacher at the top of my board too right now. He checks off the most boxes for me. I have to watch some interviews to get some sense of his makeup, but he has a lot of similarities to Michael Porter Jr, with more effort on defense.
That's pretty close to my list except I flip Sarr and Salaun, and move Holland after Topic, and possibly after Reed.

Is that why you proceeded to post a video of Coulibaly scoring in transition, shooting 3's and on straight line drives as if it disproved my comment somehow and then called me an idiot? You still won't let it go, it's very unfortunate. Everyone should be allowed to post their takes without disgusting personal attacks thrown their way. You could have easily made all these comments regarding Dunn without violating the forum rules yet you get heated constantly and have some kind of deep hatred towards me because of my opinions on basketball players.
Furthermore you are mischaracterizing my comments yet again saying that I'm "questioning the drafting of an 18 year old for lacking shot creation" when what I posted was inspired by seeing Giannis Antetokounmpo comparisons being dished out for Tidjane Salaun and constant Giannis comparisons brought forward for any long, athletic and young european prospect which is unfortunate.

Yep.
I'm really, really hoping we can land a Top 3 pick.
Cody Williams would be an absolute dream.

Sheppard's shot looks like Lillard's with the range already. Seriously logo 3's and it isn't affecting his insane %'.

There's a non-zero chance Sheppard could be Steph-lite. It's not high odds but not zero either imo.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD
Fairly certain that if we keep at least one of these 2024 pick Zach Edey will be around for Toronto. I keep wondering if Toronto would pass on him 4 times in a pretty weak draft when he was college basketball's most dominant player and he is a Canadian.
If Brook Lopez can carve out a spot I think Edey can at least be a back-up big for 20 mins. His +70% from FT line and elite touch make me think he can develop a jumper.
