Kings-Clips

Post#1 » by pillwenney » Thu Feb 1, 2024 10:42 pm

I'm wondering if it's not worth it for the Kings to kick the tires on PJ Tucker as a tool to use potentially in a playoff series.

Is there anything in particular the Clippers would want (within reason for a 38-year-old who isn't playing)? I'm finding it difficult to come up with matching salaries without feeling like we're purging value. For instance, Duarte/McGee/Edwards gets you close enough and would allow the Clippers to clear his salary next season, but it's a little tough to move 3 somewhat barely useful players for one. Maybe if the Clips add a weak 2nd? Kings could maybe include Mitchell, but then I feel like I'd want something else from the Clips--like if they have a decent 2nd to trade.

Thoughts?

Salaries make it hard, and by doing a 3-for-1, Clippers would need to make a cut, which could be Primo, but they seem to think he can be a nice, low cost future player.

Also, keeping his salary might be better, as they can use him for ballast with the CBA tightening up.

Can't see a second being given up for three guys that won't be getting any playing time, to boot. I can't see Duarte playing over Amir, for example. McGee isn't going to usurp Plumlee or Theis and Edwards won't be getting the burn over Kobe.

It might cost the second to erase PJ for next year, but that's if Frank is going for as such, not those three

Utah certainly takes this if offered but I'm not crazy about it for either of the other teams, unless LAC really just wants off PJ's salary regardless of fit. Kudos for including as many tuckers as possible though :D

Thought the Tucker touch would be pleasing.

I'm not sure on what LAC would want to do with PJ. He seems like he could become a distraction if kept beyond the deadline and not playing and getting off his salary while also having THT there as injury backup might help too.
I don't believe this is the best way to go for the Kings, but PJ does give some much needed toughness. Just not sure if the minutes are completely there.
