At this point I don't think I'd waste our limited "assets" on a marginal move this year. Our bench crap that we want to upgrade is not landing us anything. A major shakeup trade and a new coach midstream = we are not winning it all this year. Just ride it out and explore a larger re-shuffling in the offseason when we have more picks to use.

Horst is responsible for the bench your'e complaining about, so what makes you think he can fix it?

I've defended Horst in the past from a few who think he's done a bad job, but I also don't think he has done a great job.

People point to Holiday and Lillard as great moves, but all he did was pay a king's ransom for each player when they became available.

I'm not critical of those moves, but it wasn't some swindle or great evaluation of talent. It also led to an inferior bench, which is the price you pay for going for the gold.

Boston also has a bad bench.

The two moves I do give him credit for were the original signings of Lopez and Portis. Great moves.

So Horst has done a decent job, but he can't take credit for the best moves in the last 30 years, which were Giannis and KM.

I don't think he can fix it, that's the point.

So…what do we think Memphis dropping Steven Adams means for what’d it take to get Marcus Smart?

Bobby scenarios where he heads to Houston seem done. Possible they could still be a Connaughton destination though.

Give me Murray without losing any of the big four. Pipe dream I know.

Would love to know why the Bucks don't give Gabriel a look.

Adams is out for this season, so I'm not sure that means Smart is available or that Bobby to Houston is dead.

Just a bizarre trade by Houston.

Kris Dunn has to be pretty cheap. At the very least, way better replacement for Payne.

Yeah, very strange to see them make a move for next season when reports suggest Udoka is trying to get them to go all in for this season. No idea what they are doing.

I think the idea that we need to take the ball out of Giannis hands for me is dieing a little. Giannis is having a peak offensive year and some may attribute it to the addition of Dame (and they’re not wrong) but Giannis actually struggled early on trying to defer, making Dame comfortable.
Giannis is greatly benefiting from shooting less threes. He’s benefiting from the better spacing. He’s also benefiting from not having to be solely responsible in late shot clock situations as there’s now someone to defer to. All these are positives.

But Giannis doesn’t need anyone to take the ball out of his hands. He needs players around him that clear out for him and force their defenders to stay home. Players that can make open threes, attack close outs and swing a pass. Players that can punish miss matches. Dame fits that description, but he’s also so much more, which if we would fully embrace we would have to take away from Giannis’ game.

Khris, Lopez, Dame for Lebron, AD

Defense is fixed, then we are back to needing shooters.

How is the defense fixed? We're still without a single point of attack defender

By trading away our bad defenders? As if the Lakers would ever offer this or that Lebron would agree to it.

the Bucks will have PoA defensive issues as long as Dame is here

Nope, but they'll have PoA defensive issues as long as Beasley is the main PoA defender. You've replaced Dame with Payne, so you've fixed nothing, while wrecking the offense. Also, LeBron hasn't played defense in years.

Agree. He has to be avaliable. Utah starts him, but only plays him very limited minutes despite being a whopping 12 points/100 better with him on the floor. Dominant defender, and up to 43% from 3. Plays PG more, but would slot perfectly into our SG role.

I know it's unrealistic, just a fun thought.

Fischer says Lakers and Bucks have called Memphis about Smart but Memphis basically turned them away.
