Phi ducks tax, Dallas United Morris, Houston takes on salary
Philly sends: Morris, future 2nd round pick
Philly receives: Landale, Bullock
Dallas sends: Holmes, curry, future 2nd
Dallas receives: Morris
Houston sends: Landale, Bullock
Houston gets: Holmes, curry, 2 2nds
Philly gets out of the tax for a 2nd
Dallas swaps Holmes for an expiring wing
Houston is probably going to just guarantee Landale for the salary slot anyways so take on Holmes salary for 2nds

Dallas probably owes another second or other similar level asset, but I like the idea.

Tbf they're taking on $5M this season. Also only have two tradable seconds. I think if they toss some cash in to cover at least some of the remaining salary difference between Landale and Holmes for this season we're good. Everyone should be happy even if Dallas is getting off next year's money for cheap. Or maybe give Houston swap rights on their other second they have so they still have one to trade?babyjax13 wrote:Dallas probably owes another second or other similar level asset, but I like the idea.

Dallas would need to send out more salary than this. Starting the lux tax early for Morris is not an option IMO.
It’s almost impossible for Kyrie to get either of his incentives with how many games he’s already missed and the team’s record. But I’d want Curry included in the OP.

Value is good for Dallas, again with jay's point about the tax. But they do lose some matching salary for next year so not sure if they'd want to do this?

I thought they were still under but yeah Houston can take curry into their tpe, I'll edit OPjayjaysee wrote:Dallas would need to send out more salary than this. Starting the lux tax early for Morris is not an option IMO.

Obviously not terribly intimate with Dallas' cap situation but I believe this allows them to use the full MLE to keep the salary slot aliveTexas Chuck wrote:Value is good for Dallas, again with jay's point about the tax. Yeah, then the only issue from Dallas’ side is this offseason plan (a lot of expiring money and three first round picks) it’s probably going to end up being a disappointing Kuzma or such.
Losing Holmes (and Curry really) money for next season take Dallas out of matching a 30+ million dollar player if that opportunity came up.
THJ, Powell do match Kuzma though. So looks like you’re on to something..
But it’s great value for Dallas.

It's less about the salary slot, though if it opens up the full MLE, that is a nice benefit. But more about THJ/Holmes/Curry allows them to salary match just about any player with expiring money and they either have 3 firsts or a top 10 ten pick to add incentive.
I'm interested in keeping that big move open this summer, though I suppose having to use Kleber with 2 years left in lieu of Holmes likely wouldn't be a deal breaker. Though this deal costs them the $4M of Curry too so...
But I can't argue the value. its good value.

Mavs should send cash to Houston at least, but I like it.
This opens full MLE and BAE for the Mavs next year, with some wiggle room under 1st Apron for S&T.

Could Dallas have Roco or Batum instead? Would hate to have both knucklehead brothers together
