Also not sure where you got that Murray info. Hawks are better on defense when Trae is on the floor this year so not sure how Murray would blame that all on Traes defense.

Atlanta arena holds just over 19k people. Hawks averaged 17k in attendance in 2023. Not sure how that equals 104% capacity. And again, i live in Atlanta, close to half the people that go wear colors from the visiting team. the Hawks behind in popularity to UGA, Braves and Falcons. Trae has helped somewhat, but they still need to win to get more fans and the current team isnt doing it.

I regularly go to games and there is no way half the fans are opposing fans. This is maybe old hawks when they played big market teams like the Lakers. I do agree they aren’t as popular as those other teams though.

Also according to the State Farm site the arena holds 16,888 for basketball while hawks averaged 17,555 in 2023.
https://www.espn.com/nba/attendance/_/year/2023/sort/homePct

and multiple other sites have the arena capacity at 19,000 for basketball, 16,000 for hockey.

The Arena was remodeled in 2018 and seats removed to open up the food and beverage concourse to provide an open view to the court.

Oct 20, 2018 — Koonin said the total seating capacity for basketball will be about 16,600 this season, down from 18,047 before renovations began.

if they are at 16,600, i think the fire marshall would have an issue with them averaging one thousand above that.

State Farm Arena itself claims that their basketball capacity is 16,888.

They no longer have the ability to host hockey games after the refurbishment. Part of the reason why the rumored Forsyth County arena is being built with a NHL team in mind

ehh, the city didnt support a pro Hockey team before, i dont think they will now. The Knights were really the only hockey team supported. and that was less than 10,000 a game. I dont see the NHL coming back to Atlanta for the 3rd time.

When fully healthy the Magic defense is scary to any team. Adding a PG that can shoot outside may be enough to propel us into the next tier offensively. There are a few available good shooting PGs out there that play good D, and the Magic probably have the best assets in the league to go after one of them.

Number of Seats different from maximum capacity which may also include standing room tickets.

Maybe or Maybe not, but preliminary discussions.
Most likely will be located outside the perimeter, similar to the Braves move from the City of Atlanta.

HENDERSON, Nev. -- NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is optimistic a third franchise in Atlanta would yield better results than two previous failed expansion teams in the market.
