A simple, trade deadline deal between LAL and Mavs

Mavs need length. LAL needs self-created offense and 3pt shooting.

Mavs send Tim Hardaway Junior (2y at $17.8M) for Rui Hachimura (3y at $15.7M).

THJ shoots 9 three-pointers a game (mostly self-created) at %39 clip. He is a bad defensive player but plays with energy all the time and can be a positive team defensive player (as demonstrated in Mavs 2021/22 season). THJ is expiring contract next year.

Rui is a more balanced offensive player and brings much needed height.

Dallas already has Grant Williams, Maxi, DJJ, and a prospect at the four.. I don’t have a high enough valuation of Rui to feel adding him to that group at the cost of THJ does much for Dallas. They need an upgrade, not just another body.

Especially considering Dallas lived through the first couple years of THJ contract..
