Chicago trades: (S+T) Zach LaVine, + ???
Brooklyn trades: Ben Simmons, + ???
In the unlikely scenario that LaVine decides he wants out of Chicago, is this the best return that the Bulls could get for him? Brooklyn adds a durable star player who has been the first fiddle on a playoff team (or second fiddle...or co-fiddle, idk) while Chicago recoups a different young star. They likely transition into a soft rebuild by moving DeRozan and Vooch for younger players/picks and building around Simmons/Williams.

Due to sign and trade rules, can't happen. Bulls can only take back half of Lavine's salary-which means they would have to send someone like Vuc into cap space somewhere else

I don't know of a list specific to the Apron (Hard Cap), but the Luxury Tax List should give a general idea of which teams will have Apron (Hard Cap) issues doing a Sign & Trade for LaVine.
Salary Cap............$122 million
Luxury Tax Line......$149 million
Apron (Hard Cap)....$155.7 million
Roughly 1/3 of the league will 'be really close or over the Apron (Hard Cap) with a LaVine Sign & Trade depending on the salary going out.
Luxury Tax List
The BYC stuff is a different roadblock to navigate around.

A sign and trade would not be unnecessary now but would this not still be viable?
Does either side need to add more here?

Both sides need to add a jumpshot.

I don’t think Brooklyn wants anything to do with Lavine.
They currently have Cam Thomas at the 2 and are publicly chasing Donovan Mitchell.

I think it makes sense now with no incentive. Chicago gets out of LaVine early, Brooklyn gets a player who is generally pretty available and can be used as ballast for a sign and trade for a different star (if Mitchell wants to come).
