Mavs/Clipper undersized PF swap

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Sun Feb 4, 2024 2:51 pm

Tucker
Primo(or Boston or Bones whomever LAC wants, just needs to be in the deal for salary matching)
2030 LAC 2nd

for

Grant Williams
Morris

Clippers trade a guy they aren't playing for a guy who likely does play a bit.
Mavs take a shot on an old POA defender, but also also gain more expiring salary to trade this summer which might open up trading Holmes now. Pick up another minor asset to facilitate stuff too.

Grant Williams isn’t this bad? Think Dallas could ask for more.. but Williams should have been such a great fit and isn’t.. so you’re probably right on the value here unfortunately.

I get being frustrated at Grant for playing horrible, but this trade doesn't acomplish much for DAL. Should be the last option in TDL, with so many players available.

As alluded to in the OP, part of the idea is being able to turn Holmes/asset into a good player while keeping that matching salary alive for the summer. This is not remotely meant to solve any major issues for Dallas. I doubt Tucker in for Williams costs Dallas much in terms of results, but it adds some future flexibility (and a paltry asset).
