because he held the ball to long. at that point it was go for the dunk/layup/foul, instead of fumbles a drop off.

It is not a bad contract. Cole has the skill set of a bench scoring guard. Even though it doesn't look like lately, he has been demonstrated those skills in much longer period than this slump he is in currently.
