OKC has a lot of future 1sts and they could benefit from acquiring Kuz and Gafford. They lack a starting PF and a good center to replace Chet off the bench.

In this scenario, I'd expect Winger to push for Giddey+fodder (Bertans+Micic or Poku)+MIA 2025 1st+any additional draft capital he can grab..

Problem is that any return from Dallas is so underwhelming…apart from their 20271st, what can they offer of value for us? If they are the only bidders, then I most likely expect our FO to sit tight and keep Kuz…

I think a more likely trade partner is Dallas. A lot of rumors that they are interested in both Kuzma and Gafford. They have several vet min guys in their rotation.

OKC is in first place so they will probably be more reluctant to make changes.

nate33 wrote:Zach Lowe made an interesting point in his podcast today about the trade deadline. There are a bunch of teams, including the Lakers, Milwaukee, Denver and others who have zero or only 1 available unencumbered FRP to trade right now, but will have 3 or 4 FRP's to trade this summer. (Teams that traded last 2023 pick can't trade their 2024 pick until draft day. And on draft day, the 2031 FRP also becomes eligible to trade.)

Basically, there are very few teams capable of bidding FRP's for guys right now. That pool of bidders will increase substantially this summer. With that in mind, seller teams (like us) with assets under long term contracts (like Kuzma or Caruso) may be inclined to pass on any trades at the trade deadline and instead wait for summer when they think the offers will be better.

Buyers are aware of this and are frustrated that the sellers are driving a hard bargain on long term contracts like Kuzma's, so they are instead looking more carefully at the expiring-contract guys (DeRozan, Tyus, Burks, etc.). Sellers lack the leverage to drive up the price on those guys because it's trade them or let them walk for nothing.

With that dynamic in play, it looks like Tyus and Wright are probably more likely to be traded, whereas guys like Kuzma and Gafford will probably be kept at least until the Summer.

The Wiz are in a very good position negotiating for a Kuz trade not only for the above reason, but also because his trade value a full year from now won't be a ton different from what it is now. He'll have 2 years left on his deal AFTER next year, plus the financial cost of the contract will be falling at the same time salaries are going up. If I were trading for Kuzma, I'd be considering the net cost to get him- what it takes now, compared to what I can get back in a year.

It's a little like San Diego and Soto. They paid a lot, gave it a shot, pulled fans into the stadium. It didn't work out, but in the end they were still able to recover a lot of value when they traded him.

With that in mind, a trade partner this year could overpay by a good bit, but a year from now the trade might look cheap.

Do we see the chance that no Wizard trades happen?

Jones, Kuzma, and Wright are all moved would be my guess.

Some slightly disappointing combination of future 1st and 2nd round picks in return.

All returns seem "slightly disappointing" to a team's fans! :) We always want more!

Wright seems out of here for sure. No value in keeping him really. Kuzma I can see them keeping if they don't get a good offer. Barring anything like an injury, he seems just as tradable next year as right now

I'll be disappointed if Kuzma isn't traded. After the past three seasons, I've grown tired of watching him. Time to move forward.

Yep. I share the sentiment. Time to give Deni and Bilal more usage and shots.

He's a nice defender but his offense has been weak and the defensive breakdowns around him mean his point of attack defensive value is greatly weakened as other teams can simply pass out and avoid him. I really don't think he has much value to this franchise as it exists now and would rather give his minutes to someone under 30.

This! I am irrationally very disappointed that we haven't accumulated more picks thus far.

I really am disappointed and I really do know it is irrational. And yet...

Sorry if I misinterpreted anything. I tend to take posts at face value. I do like the tank though.

Calling a big schoking Poole trade.

I would not be shocked if kuz was on the team next week.

I would like to see all the vets gone. Shamet, wright gill. Ect.

I don't know if we get the value we want out of jones.i can't see use giving him a kuzma deal and keeping him for later.

https://www.bulletsforever.com/2024/2/5/24062739/washington-wizards-kyle-kuzma-trade-rumor-status

The Wizards aren’t likely to trade Kyle Kuzma, according to report

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN released his latest podcast episode today giving updates on what the environment across the league is like. He even mentioned Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma as the player whom teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings are tempted to bring onboard. But Wojnarowski, without mentioning the Mavericks or Kings, said that it’s unlikely that Kuzma will get traded.

Ultimately, rebuilding teams, like the Wizards or Detroit Pistons, aren’t desperate to trade away their best players just for the sake of making moves. And at least in some cases, the top players on these teams, like Kuzma, are happy with their current situations sans the losing.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Works for me. Bilal is too green right now and we'll get better value as the 2024 & 2031 draft picks become available this summer.

The trade silence is killing me. In reality, it's probably a good thing, but selfishly killing me.

With Monte Morris going to the Wolves looks like one of the main rumoured destinations for Jones is gone.
