So according your stat IHart is better than AD, Giannis. Chet, Wemby, Embiid and a half dozen other players who when watching the game present supreme paint intimidation but since your fetish stat says iHart is better than all them, that's what you are going to try and tell us? Good luck with that.

That the difference between someone who watches games and someone who watches stats, they can see the difference in the game.

The stats are right. Fans eyes are wrong. This has been proven over and over. I’m not naming the players names.

Sorry Chanel

This coming from the guy who praised Nerlens Noel who has been out of the league since he left us. A guy that couldn't even rebound and only got a couple flashy blocks a game on help defense lol

Sorry Robert

I liked nerlens noel on a personal emotional level though, not because he was statistically a great player

Of course stats also showed he was one of the best defensive players in the nba that year and was the only player to average 2 blocks and a steal per game that year iirc, and this was all demonstrated by the Knicks top ranked defense and resulted in the 4th seed in the playoffs. So I don’t regret having supported him. After he left he got injured and hasn’t been the same player since, I can’t control that

I really don't think so. I think Dolan has finally learned to give the reigns to Rose.

We missed out on a prime star (Donovan Mitchell) because of picks and Grimes without Dolan intervening. Keep in mind, this all when Dolan was probably still embarrassed with Durant + Irving going to the Nets.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I really don't think Dolan would throw all the chemistry away to just get the Lebron brand (@ age 40) into MSG.

At least with Melo, it was during his prime years, not the twilight years. All recent evidence points to Dolan letting Rose drive this.

Yeah, I respect that but don't agree. He's been preoccupied with the Sphere and U2, but if Lebron starts seriously saying he wants NY (or if we take Bronny in the draft), I fully expect the true colors at MSG, Inc. to come out and capitulate to LeBron's every whim. Dolan would plaster that man's picture in a Knick uniform over every surface at the Garden just to prove to his dead dad that he's finally "made it." He doesn't care about championships, he cares about attention and validation.

i think he cares more about profit than anything, i dont think the poors can validate him

LeBron’s a lot of things, but poor ain’t one of them. And say what you will about what a scumbag Dolan is, but you can’t really criticize his racial hiring history. I stick by my tinfoil hat theory that any whiff of serious Lebron talk would bring Dolan out of hiding like a rat to cheese.

He is a formidable defender I never said otherwise

The advanced stats showed Hartenstein could be a really good player though. I was trying to point this out all last year while the above poster spent all year crapping on him

It won't be a coincidence that the Knicks were a top 3-6 team when it happens.

While I agree FULLY with the sentiment here... Brunson already did come

But yes. When superstars jump, they jump to solvent franchises and we weren't for a long time in 2010, even with Walsh. And we still got Amare and Melo wanting to come.

True. But I will say guys like Brunson (and even Randle) are outliers. We didn't sign them as some "missing piece star". Knicks saw something in them, they signed a team-friendly contract, and they exceeded expectations.

To get that star though, you really have to sell them on getting a ring. Promising them offensive responsibilities , minutes, and other opportunities won't get you anywhere.

And Brunson was promised more. But even by that point we were probably able to convince him of an ascending direction. Similar to 2010 but we picked the wrong level below guy.

That's bc this above poster realized last season Isiah was one of the most useless players in the NBA last season. It's actually INCREDIBLE how great he's been playing this season especially stepping in as a starter when Mitch went down... it's literally night and day. He couldn't get tough rebounds last season, he didn't defend the rim, he could barely get off the ground AT ALL. This season he's blocking shots, meeting everyone at the rim above the rim... like who is this guy

I really think working with Mitch helped improve his positioning bc Mitch is ELITE in his position and boxing out

iHart was obviously hurt to start last season. He's awesome now and is fulfilling what he had showed glimpses of previously. I hope we can keep him.

If a player intimidates another player into not taking a shot...how do you measure that with a stat?

Not pressure the shot so they miss more often and measure that, but changes the decision of another player because of their presence.

Let's just say they know this player in the paint does or does not block shots from stats they understand from a scouting report, do they make that decision just on the knowledge or do they decide based on the exact circumstances and is there a stat to measure this.

If a player is looking to pass the ball and sees another player in the area they want to pass the ball but choose not to because of that other player is there, how do you measure that with a stat?

The 'average player' has 'x' amount of shots or passes in the area they are occupying, but 'y' player has more or less shots or passes in their vicinity measured by this stat.

I'm sure we could imply some of these things with some of the stats available but it would be virtually impossible to get inside the decision making process to analyze and measure it.

Advanced psychic metrics...we can read player's minds with these stats.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

You think it’s smarter to run your players into the ground and expect them to maintain a lead.

Are you serious?

I didn't even get to see this game but, 6-7 man rotations are not the answer to our problems right now. You're gonna kill everyone!

Well Known Fact: NOT watching games is the proven way to judge performance.

Watching games clouds the mind. Abstaining from viewing the contest eliminates subjective bias.

You say this jokingly and mockingly but I actually think this is true, especially if you remove the bias of being a fan of one specific team from the equation

I watch games because it’s fun and I like the team and players but if my goal was truly to find out which players are better I’d probably be best served to stop watching through biased eyes and only look at data which is probably what analytics people do

Grimes actually went back to the locker room in... one of the games. Played after but was legit.

OG had a mystery injury. Which we were promised would happen.

We need Charlie Brown!
