You live there when there is a bigger sample size of missed player evaluations. So far it’s Flynn and Dick in the last few years. Barnes was a great pick.

it's as experts have said....since 2019, Ujiri's moves have been subpar....
Barnes is saving grace, and IQ and Barrett is a solid get for OG, but they need to do more than that

The talent drain that occured post 2019 is near impossible to overcome. Masai has made many mistakes but to say they date back to 2019 is a bit unfair. More recently (2 years or so) he has made some head scratching decisions

I think we are all well past trying to pinpoint the exact moment Masai **** the bed, but I think we can all agree that there was a point in the last few years, where everything started going down hill. And regardless of exactly when it was, it has had a pretty negative impact on the state of the team now.

I hope I'm being overly pessimistic, but so far it's looking like that will be having a bigger impact than it needed to.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it rubs me the wrong way that he's doing these podcasts.

I get it of you are already a proven and productive player who has played for several years in the league, but Gradey is trying to crack an NBA rotation. He's had a relatively disappointing rookie season so far, not sure why he's conducting interviews with other rookies around the league mid-season.

The new generation are social media stars before they even come into the NBA, so I sorta expect this moving forward.

I don't see this much differently than playing video games and it's certainly a better use of time than club hopping.

From all reports, it seems like he's a hard worker.

It's cute that people think Gradey would just be in the gym if he wasn't doing a podcast.

Dudes like Terrence Ross just played video games all night. Others hit up the clubs. I don't care what a guy does for fun, has nothing to do with how hard he works or even how much time he dedicates to honing his craft, because NOBODY does that 100% of the time.

I'm struck by how a 2021 first rounder (20th) in Jalen Johnson of Atlanta got into only 22 games for Atlanta as a rookie, averaging 5.5 minutes of garbage time, shooting 23% from three and 28% from the field, and is now viewed as untouchable by the Hawks. And it's not like there was a superstar blocking his path as a rookie. Players have unique development timelines, and I'm comfortable Gradey will develop into a solid rotation player, and probably a starter, when this team is a solid playoff bet again. He has a lot of skills, good athleticism and a high BBIQ.

This.

Gradey has had a rough start. So what...

His improvement as the season has gone on has been good. As long as he works hard, hits the gym and gets use to the speed of the NBA game he's going to be a good player. He needs a lot of work on his body and game reps. He can shoot and pass already. Won't be that far into the future when it all starts to come together into a complete NBA package. Will it be this year ? Hell no. Next year? Probably not, but gradual incremental improvements...

A developmental coaching group like we have will do a lot with the talent he has, it just will take a little time.

I think if we are invested in playing differently than the Gradey Dick selection makes sense in a long-term sense. To me, you can see how he fits .5 basketball. He is a quick decision maker moving the ball and can play a bit as a secondary playmaker in time. He also in theory can shoot - he just needs to straighten his body out and not fade as much. He is a system guy and eventually once things settle with the roster and he has finished a year of development, we may see the fruits of this pick.

A guy like Cam Whitmore is great for a team that wants pure athletes that are aggression mode turned up to 10. He is going to be a good head down driver and maybe his shot comes around. He will always be a kind of poor bball IQ player. That is probably why he wasn't a player Toronto wanted. You can see with any of the new acquisitions, we want shooting and high IQ guys (Dick, Markquis Nowell, Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, IQ and Barrett). That seems to be what we are invested in.

All he need is to add strength and a lot of things will open up for him. I think he’ll have a big year next year.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Yeah, this fan obsession of wanting each and every player to be Kobe Bryant and thinking that normal people operate like that is so strange to me. Why are we pretending that the people who aren't on these podcasts are out there practicing every hour of the day? Were guys like JR Smith in the gym just because you didn't see them on the internet?

Professional athletes need rest, as long as they get their 1000 shots up a day then they can do whatever they want in their free time(nothing illegal).

1st quarter of the season he had like 1 game where he showed potential. These last couple weeks there have been several. Definitely improving. Tank season development time. Let's NBA

Ok
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

So 22 pts, 4-8 from 3, good movement off the ball, baby steps but you can see a very good player in the making.

Looking better. He still only looks to take stand still catch and shoot shots which needs to expand. If he can be a taller Redick that’d be great

We need to start calling him "Girthy D*ck" as a counterbalance measure.

If he's gonna develop a role in the NBA he has to be an amazing creator because he doesn't bring anything else. You can already see how Gradey does so many little things well
