Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Woj said it's likely we move both PJ and Miles.
If true we are most likely doing a full rebuild. I guess they want this to be Miller/Melo team moving forward.

I think he said we are listening to offers on both, as they should but not looking to move them. Especially for a pile of trash.

This team is trash. They aren't helping us win games. I'm fine with them listening to offers. Just don't give them away for nothing though.
Miles is gonna get paid and has made it known he would love to stay here. That Phx offer shouldn't even be considered imo.

Grant WIliams kinda sucks this year. Think I'd rather have PJ
I guess you could argue that most players play worse next to Luka so there might be some upside getting him out of that system

I know some folks have expressed interest in Josh Green, so he's a little scouting breakdown of his defense:

I agree that a Miles trade is unlikely.
However, we really should take back some salary for either Lowry or Hayward. We shouldn't go into the off-season with over $50 million in cap space to spend.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Miles is certainly an imperfect player, and his clouded personal life remains a threat, but trading him for junk is ridiculous. If we sign him to a reasonable contract he may still become a key part of this team’s future success. What other player can we expect to get this off-season or via this draft that would fill the gap at the 4?
PJ may still be dealt, which would further weaken our front line. Trading both has us starting Thor. I’m all for tanking but….

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Take on salary for what?
If we get a 1st sure I would take on salary. But taking on a bad contract just because makes no sense.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
This team sucks, but it is not because of Miles Bridges or PJ Washington for that matter. It's because we're playing heavy HEAVY mins to Ish Smith, Nick Richards, Bryce McGowens and we don't have half of our top 8 players. The focus should be on how to improve after this season, we can get a head start on setting up for next.
Of course they should listen to all offers, including Bridges or PJ (for different reasons) but the price tag should be high. Why would we want to trade them just to move off of them and take back players who are in the Bryce/JT Thor tier or even slightly above? That doesn't help us now or later.

It wouldn't be just because, having salary that you can aggregate to other players to pull off a trade for a difference maker is important. There are a lot more options in the trade market if you have salaries you can move, especially if they're expiring.

Yes. The decision to ignore the glaring need for pg and center last summer has been a disaster. It was so obvious.
This Sumner we must address pg and sign a legit backup and find a vet center.

Which shouldn't be that hard if you actually try to do those things. It won't happen with Mitch as our GM, he's proven that his entire tenure here. He is a draft exclusive guy and I'm 99% certain the Hayward signing was MJ.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Only way we should trade Miles or PJ is if...
1. We can get a first round pick, then sign someone in FA that we believe is similar for the same cost.
- looking at FA that is tough.
2. We get back a similar player ++ 2nds or young players.
Other than that we are likely losing the deal both in the short term and longterm.
Like if Dallas wants to give us Grant Williams, 2nd and OMax for PJ then yeah I would entertain it. But I am not taking back some losing contract like Holmes, Kleber and useless future 2nds.
Same with Miles. If we can get a 1st and a young player and then go to FA and bring in another starter sure. But we literally are nowhere close to any of that from rumors. Miles is 25, you would be replacing him with an older and worse player in free agency 90% of the time.

I am 100% in favor of trading Nick Richards for literally anything though. We won't win anything with him in the main rotation.

Tyus Jones, Markelle Fultz, DeAngelo Russell, Chris Paul, Mike Conley, Monte Morris, Delon Wright, Patrick Beverly, Dennis Smith, and Cam Payne will all be unrestricted free agents this summer. If this team can't land one of those guys then they aren't trying.
