Horst is a madman so I won't rule out anything, but I'm feeling like it'll be a meh move like Royce O'Neale or Delon Wright (who I like and have wanted for a while on this team, but he might be a year past it). Or something like that. Would love to be proven wrong.

How is one of those guys gonna put this squad over the top? LOL

We made that type of trade during the summer. The hope is a quality, playoff capable, role guy plus Dame being Dame, and Doc not being the worst coach in the league is enough to get us over the top. We have no big splash trade assets available.

Who knows if it’ll work but we’re all in and that’s all we can do.

Not so fast there.

Around that time, Dumars and Hammond had entrusted Horst with mastering RealGM’s software, a nascent tool for toying with trade proposals. Horst dove headlong into it. Whenever Hammond and Dumars would brainstorm potential deals in Dumars’ office, the Pistons legend would summon his 24-year-old newbie with a loud, “Hey, Horst!” Horst would hustle around the corner, then back to his desk, then back to Dumars with a “yay” or “nay” on whether the concocted trade satisfied the CBA’s convoluted conditions. After a while, if the answer was no, Horst would bring suggestions of his own, variations on what Dumars and Hammond had drawn up that were viable.

Would like them to make a move involving Bobby for a guard/wing but beyond that, nothing is really "necessary". This team is the most talented Bucks squad in my lifetime as-is, and I have to question how some people even muster the enthusiasm to watch basketball if you're miserable enough to convince yourself this team can't win a championship without adding some JAG 3&D rotation player.

Spitballing: GS blows it up.

Milwaukee In: Wiggins, Thybulle, Looney (welcome home!)

GS In: Lopez, Brogdon, PatC, Picks?

Portland In: Bobby, Draymond

The point is well taken and yes, I don't need him chasing these guys all game or even most possessions. But when an opponent is cooking - ala Jimmy last year - Giannis has to step up and lock them down. Even just a few possessions of him forcing the ball out of that player's hands could make the difference in a tight playoff match up.

I do wonder though, is Giannis a 1-1 shut down defender. I honestly don't know at this point where there are some guys who seem to blow by him. He seems better as someone clogging the lane or helping. I think he would've done a better job on Butler, but I'm not positive of that...especially when injured.

He's got enough length to bother anyone. We saw him clamp down Butler back during the title run. Butler was on fire throughout the playoffs, and Giannis was injured, so there isn't much to say about last season. But assuming he's healthy, even if guys blow by him, he has enough length to meaningfully catch up and contest.
Giannis is a very good one on one defender.... but he's still more valuable as a god damn boogie man waiting to embarrass you as a help defender.

You'd be surprised who reads this board. And has for the past 20-years. Agents, players and GM's scan it quite frequently. Mr. Lasry Jr would regularly read and interact when they first bought the club.

A former Bucks GM would even occasionally post here in rare instances.

I get it and I think the type of move Prez is mentioning is most likely. Its just disappointing. Now if that was a second move to a Murray or a Smart or something like that then I think its enough. One small move I just don't see us beating the elite teams like Boston and Denver in a 7 game series...

Yeah, the headlines that site uses are criminal. The articles are most of the time too.

Wondering if Bobby would need to be involved in this or if Pat/Marjon would do it.

DFS’s contract is pretty crazy. Massive overpay.

Dorian Finney-Smith signed a 4 year / $55,560,960 contract with the Dallas Mavericks, including $55,560,960 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $13,890,240. In 2023-24, Finney-Smith will earn a base salary of $13,394,160, while carrying a cap hit of $13,932,008 and a dead cap value of $13,394,160.

The MLE is $12.4 mil and going up 10% each year. Seems like his contact is high but that's just the going rate for a rotation guy these days.

It's very easy for us to register interest in the DFS's and Bruce Browns of the world. Much more difficult to put together an offer that the other team will accept. Never counting Horst out fully but I'm not optimistic we'll land anyone on that level.

MIL Out: Bobby, Marjon, Livingston, Portland 2nd
MIL In: DFS, Grimes

BKN Out: DFS, Royce O'Neal
BKN In: Fournier, Marjon, Livingston, NYK 2024 1st, Portland 2nd

NYK Out: Fournier, Grimes, 2024 1st
NYK In: Bobby, Royce O'Neal

Keeps a spot open for a buyout guy, and there's your 8-9 man playoff rotation:

Dame
Beasley/Grimes
Middleton/DFS/Pat
Giannis/Crowder
Brook

Another one of those guys that would move no needle, but is an example of making a move just for the sake of it. No go Horst. These aren't serious suggestions.

Concentrate on Thybulle, Caruso and Dunn. Any two will do, but don't give up Bobby, unless one of the two is Caruso.

Hell yeah to Thybulle but DFS doesn't move the needle? You're going to have to explain that logic to me.

"Guys, stop proposing dumb trades for these defensive specialists who don't move the needle. This board is stupid."
