Thought we had Dunn at one point. Part of the Tristan trade and we turned around and traded him for Juancho if I recall. Should have just kept Dunn lol.

Saric my #1 option.

#2 option would be Drummond.

Still have to laugh that ESPN put him in their top-100 list but left off Derrick White and Sengun.

Do they even watch the same league??

No Sengun or White?? That's just wrong. No wonder I stopped watching that garbage years ago

It was a classic "trade for your onscreen prospect and movie co-star in real life" move by POBO Brad. Couldn't resist getting Bo Cruz (though film was still in production at the time of the trade).

Tony Jones: Utah’s starting small forward has emerged as a serious trade target for two contending teams, according to multiple league sources: the Phoenix Suns and the Boston Celtics. Both teams need to strengthen their respective second units, and Fontecchio has an easy salary number for Phoenix and Boston to get to as he is in the final year of a contract that pays him $3.1 million annually.

Bulls currently sitting 9, may be trying to press for more than a 2nd

The Bulls between being a play-in team and playing Drimmond so much may be keeping him or trying to raise interest and , of course, cost to get him.

Craig/Drummond are essentially salary filler given that they won't feature in our playoff rotations, so can be replaced with anybody that'd fit the Grant Williams TPE. We've got $6.2m to play with and need to send out at least 4 guys to match salary on Caruso so a) need a couple warm bodies coming back and b) for the Bulls to create enough roster spots to make the deal legal.

Bulls likely net out with picks #30 and #37 in 2024 plus #26-30 in 2026 (although unprotected so some minor upside there). That plus a PG that eventually might be able to be flipped for something but at the very least can run your 2nd unit while you're still rebuilding (and expiring filler to round it out).

Obviously not the highest of returns for AC, but I think it's pretty solid assuming nothing else comes along that beats it (and AKME make the right choice to tank the rest of the season).

Reasonable assessment overall for Boston, so let me start there. The part you can’t swallow from the Bulls perspective is that the “filler” aren’t just throw ins.

Drummond had a 25/24 game in a win a few weeks ago, plus a number of other very productive double double games w/Vucebrick out. Got the start due to the Wolves big lineup, and had 16/16 last night matched up against Rudy Gobert in a win. Read he leads the league in rebounding rate. Maybe he’s out of the rotation for the Celtics (?), but plenty of other teams covet what he can bring.

To a lesser extent, Craig is also very serviceable late rotation guy. Our board pretty much unanimously thinks highly of him for his role. It seems like he’s the kind of guy where you might get annoyed at the coach for playing too much. He did tweak an ankle last night though. Maybe I’m underestimating the current Boston bench, but I think only Hauser (and Al who presume is platooning at center too) would play over him from the fwd position.

So even if we assume they don’t have value to Boston, they have value around the league. That’s why I’d take those guys out, and focus on something solely around Caruso *.

* What a ****ing animal that guy is. Boston fans would love him soooo much.

Edit: just remembered to your point cause it was a day or so, you’re thinking roster spot jam. Tough. We don’t have that many guys that are particularly good, yet don’t have many that are just low salary throw aways. Just not great partners right now.

Patrick Williams has been out, and it was only due to the Wolves matchup and their size.

Our front office is league worst. No showcasing. Too incompetent. Don’t disappoint yourselves, and move on. Dream of improving your team‘s 2nd unit elsewhere.

I think Knicks moves should be viewed through the lens of a possible Lebron pursuit this summer.

Meaning other teams. Idc where anyone goes on a website. All are welcome to “our” board if they want to have good discussion.

Just saying it’s a waste of time because the Bulls FO is so incredibly bad. Boston aims for banners. We aim for playin appearances. It’s pathetic.

Btw, I live in NE, and root for the Celtics to do well pretty much all the time except for rare niche scenarios where the Bulls might actually have something to play for.

So, having played 2 years with the Jazz, Fontecchio would come with Early Bird rights, meaning he could be signed for up to 1.75% of his current salary, or 104% of the average NBA salary. The average NBA salary for the 2023-24 season was just shy of eight figures at $9.7 million dollars for the season, so around $10M. I've never watched him play, other than highlights, but he has been starting for the Jazz, so I don't know how much he could get in free agency. Seeing as guys like Grant Williams and Richaun Holmes on Dallas, for example, will each make a little more than 13M next year, and the new CBA will undoubtedly increase salaries next year, this may be a rental if we get him, or maybe 10M will be in the ballpark if we wanted to keep him. It's going to be an interesting deadline for us.
