Sixers/Pacers/Hornets rumored stuff

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Wed Feb 7, 2024 4:40 am

Pacers trade: Buddy/27 UTH 2nd
Pacers get: Washington/Bouknight(waived)

Sixers trade: Morris/RoCo/24 2nd(complicated)27 PHI 2nd/28 PHI 2nd
Sixers get: Buddy

Hornets trade: Washington/Bouknight
Hornets get: Morris/RoCo/24 2nd(complicated)27 PHI 2nd/28 PHI 2nd/27 UTH 2nd

Hornets get 4 2nds and no future salary for Washington

Sixers get a rumored target and duck tax. And have $4.3M in wiggle room under the tax after this if they want to do something else.

Pacers swap Buddy for a bigger backup forward who is locked up reasonably affordably. Less risky than Wiggins.

i think i would rather pocket the 2nds and cut out hornets if i was pacers. they have enough 4/5's as is

Yeah I think those seconds will all be late seconds so not really interested.

Philly and Utah are thrilled to learn they will be great teams in 3 and 4 years. :D

And yeah those are mystery box 2's which is why you got 4 of them. If they were top 35 picks this year, I'd say the Hornets should get one. I don't have Washington with significant value.

I appreciate you declining at this valuation of course. But it was intentional.

I don't love this for the Hornets.

Yea, it probably makes them better now, but why? This doesn't make them a playoff team. 4 seconds could be used in other trades, but so can PJ Washington just as he is.

I don't hate the idea of adding Washington to the Pacers. Parts of him intrigue me as a player. The reality is, we just don't really need him though. We already have a log jam at the 4, especially with the addition of Siakam.

They could trade for Jesus Christ himself and they wouldn’t sniff the play in. Thats not a reason not to make a trade though.

Sign me up as a pacer fan. We’re probably losing Smith so adding a versatile big that can shoot on a good contract is a decent move.

If that's all PJ costs the below teams would be stupid to not trade for him

Cleveland
Dallas
Golden State
Lakers
Clippers
Philly
Milwaukee
Knicks

Honestly, even Boston and Denver if there was a way where they could make it pencil salary wise

That would not exactly work if it was Morris and Roco plus picks for Buddy, Pacers taking too much salary. Roco and Reed works on the money. IDK of the Pacers would just by Roco out or keep him for depth.

Wiretap says Sixers want Buddy. Pacers have an open roster spot and so can do a one for two without waiving anyone.

Yeah. I would personally be happy to do a Buddy for Korkmaz and Philly's choice of expiring filler, if Indy can get up to that Toronto 2nd using all, some, or none, of their 3 late 2nds. Korkmaz is worse than Buddy, but I'd like to see Mathurin, Sheppard, and McConnell get those minutes Buddy would in the end of season/playoffs, and have Korkmaz as a bench shooter just in case. An early 2nd would help keep the pipeline of rookie contracts flowing for Indy.

Thanks guys. Looks like the Charlotte portion was a big miss for both sides.

Oh, to be clear, I wouldn’t mind this at all for Indy. Obviously I’d prefer to send out 2 of the late 2nds Indy has this year than the future Utah one, but I see Washington fitting in Indy. With his ability to play small ball 5 on occasion, and his size to play 3 or 4, I could see him (and Jackson) providing the cover to not break the bank on Jalen/Obi this offseason.

no, Washington is probably more interesting than anything Philly has unless they would deal Batum.

Smith has been good. Pacers should pay him.
Trade Buddy and one of the other BU bigs for the best offer.

Agreed. But it may not be that simple. He might want to look and see if he can finally get that starting spot that he probably needs if he’s ever to get a BIG contract. And I doubt Indy can offer that, unless Siakam walks or Myles is traded. Which both seem like bad ideas.

Yeah. I’m here. Buddy and Obi for me. See if they bring anything back that’s useful toward next year.

What number are you ok with for offering Jalen? I like him and his fit with this pacers team. If the money is good enough, and he gets around 25 minutes per game(11 behind Pascal, 15 behind turner), that could be ok for him. But that mean Jackson won't get much burn. Not sure how much the Pacers want to have Jackson getting more minutes
