I'm sure we've already done this thought experiment but would you rather trade our 2024 1st or Denver's 2025 1st? Obviously our first should be stronger, but it's a weaker draft, we have no roster space to use another rookie anyway, and it might help to have cost-controlled assets a year later when we get close to all the extensions and salary madness.

Path B: accelerate build. Consolidate around Franz and Paolo by trading for players to fill key roles.
Path A has the highest long term value. Suggs, Black, and Jett all have all star potential
Path B has the lowest risk, we can protectively buy pieces that fit around Franchero.
I pick path A
No disrespect intended of course, but "Suggs, Black, and Jett all have all star potential" feels like EXTREMELY wishful thinking.
More likely they're all just good role players.
Also the Magic can retain all three of them and still take Path B where they add higher end talent without sacrificing any of them.

There's a lot of ways to make this happen financially.
Here's a better question...
WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO TRADE THE MAGIC'S 2024 1ST ROUND PICK AND JETT HOWARD FOR DEJOUNTE MURRAY?
I would try to move Houstan first but if it came down to Jett or no deal ABSOLUTELY would do that. Then follow it up with Goga + Harris or Fultz(whoever is left over) for Kennard, your 10-man rotation fits and plays well off each other on paper.
That team has 1.5 years to show what it can do with a few deep bench pieces. Can even decline Ingles & Wagner (Clears 19M) and go get a better SF/C option in FA along with possibly moving Cole. Decline Isaac's 17M deal and make it something smaller over 2+1 years with game guarantees to clear more space if needed.
Murray/Black
Suggs/Kennard
Franz/Ingles*
Paolo/Isaac
WCJ/Wagner*
* hopefully upgrade in FA
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

how many teams are solely "organic" and dont trade for a player? very few. You can be organic and also grab a player that sets you up further
and i have zero faith in Jett having all-star potential. and hesitant to even think that of Black.

Dejounte Murray added to the Hawks injury report tonight with "lower back tightness"
Smells fishy.

I would move the Orlando '24 first. While Jones would come cheaper, I like the thought process of adding Murry if it was centered around the '24 pick and non-core pieces (including Fultz and Jett). If possible, I would like to retain Harris.

If they trade for Murray, I’d better see some love between him on Paolo on Twitter immediately! I’m sure they’ve been consulted with but it’d be a relief to see it in public.

Fair. OKC is doing it so far, the OG Magic build did it (Shaq, Penny, Nick, & Dennis all lotto picks, all starters).tiderulz wrote:eyriq wrote:Path A: organic build. The trade that kicked off the rebuild though. I feel like that is still organic.fendilim wrote:their best player came from tradeeyriq wrote:Fair. OKC hasnt won anything yet. and that Magic team, did you forget Horace Grant as a starter? not drafted by Orlando. and Orlando's 6th man, Brian Shaw, drafted and played with Boston and Miami before coming to Orlando

OKC is a bad example IMO.
Basically no other team has a 6x all-star in his prime that they are able to trade away for a future All-NBA guard SGA and 5 first round picks.

Murray already complimented Paolo and Franz and their play and leadership and Orlando's coaching last month. almost like he was laying the ground work

its like when people want to point to Detroit's title team with no superstars. that just doesnt happen 99.9% of the time.

I'll keep telling myself that it aint happening. It does display how we have potentially captured some lightning in a bottle. People might want to come here after all.

Mosley does seem to be well liked in both the coaching and player community.
