Sixers Duck the Tax! Orlando involved.
Korkmaz and one second plus max cash to Orlando.
Orlando returns one fake second back.
The Sixers avoid the luxury tax and make their owners $10 mil. more.

why does Orlando help out Philly for zero reasons? we have no need for a 5th SG that will never see the court

The second round pick for free. You can just cut him.
If Max cash is not enough to cover Furcant's salary then two seconds go to the Magic.

This is just the kind of crap I expect to hear tomorrow afternoon. The pain of being an ORL fan with a "prudent" "cautious" "methodical" Front Office counting on more organic growth from within.

Honestly this is one of those trades that makes a lot of sense.

How does it not?? It's a free 2nd. Sixers are sending the cash to cover the remainder of Korkmaz's salary, and the pick you send back is basically a technicality never to convey (unless you're one of the best five teams in the league).

No fans like these kinds of trades. but they happen every year. I'm pretty sure philly will move Furk to get under the tax, guess it's just a question of who has the space and wants a free second.

because ORlando has seen what our front office does, or actually doesnt do, with 2nd round picks. no reason to help Philly for some late 2nd round pick.

Even if you assume Philly will be a great team forever.
You then need to assume teams like Portland and LAC will also be great teams.
And then you need to note that as of right now Philly has pick 36 in next summers draft, so it’s only high if you count this whole draft off by 20 picks.

Re: Sixers Duck the Tax! Orlando involved.
nothing more annoying than an OP that lays out a very clear benefit to a team to have posters claim multiple times there is literally no benefit. When they rightfully get pushed back on such silliness they then claim that things that have value uniquely have no value to their franchise.
This despite Orlando currently owing 0 2nd round picks and owning 5 extra. So clearly the franchise does value them despite this fanbase trying to tell everyone differently for years. And they never owe 2nds and they always have a pile of extra ones.

I agree that our front office values them but I think fans of Orlando react like this because even if our franchise values them it's not as basketball assets as in the last 5 drafts there was only one 2nd rounder we didn't trade for either cash considerations or future 2nd rounders. So while the front office sees the benefit fans don't which causes a disconnect in discussions like this.

This seems like an insight about your FO that makes this even more realistic. they get a free pick to sell next year. Easy money without influencing on/off court at all, just free money.

I fully agree. I could easily see our front office doing something like this. I just think a lot of our fans hate these kind of deals because they don’t think it will ever end with any on court benefit. I know that’s why I find trades like this frustrating.

Maybe we’re just too dumb to appreciate the 3-D chess of getting yet another srp instead of utilizing the same cap space and our existing abundance of srps and frps to actually improve the team. “Take it and say thank you” is not the position ORL is striving for anymore. Try that with competitive FOs like MIA or LAL and see how it’s received. This would be fine AFTER the dust is settling on any real off-season moves to improve the team’s playoff capabilities.
Pointing out how many additional srps ORL holds is evidence that they have less need of any more not an unlimited desire for them

*i can think of plenty of more annoying things that go on here

Orlando takes the 2 and immediately flips it to Memphis in that Goga Harris 2nd for Kennard. Memphis seems to be able to find 2nd round talent like GG Jackson.
I’m going to speak it into existence rofl.

Taking the 2nd into cap space won't really affect Orlando's ability to improve the team, though. Any substantial improvements will be made by trading existing contracts, anyway.

If another team has an exception and can take the salary and stay under the tax?
They will all say thanks for the free 2nd.
I get you want something on the court, but not all transactions are about on the court.

maybe i missed it, please show me where the Orlando front office has done anything of value with a 2nd. i seen them sold, traded high 2nd picks for ones years down the road. as you mentioned, Orlando already has 5 picks coming their way, why help an eastern conference rival that doesnt really benefit you much?
