Yeah, I hear you. -- He didn't get to do that, when he was with "Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes".
He had to breakaway and go solo for that. Which turned out to be good for Teddy.

Pacers desperation to move Hield seems weird. They want to spend a bunch of money on a vet, why not just keep Hield? Banking on guys eg like Nesmith or Jalen Smith to keep shooting over 40% doesn't seem like a smart bet.

I can't believe Brad sleeping since yesterday and no zoyastable "do something" gif. It's just too quiet out there. Everybody off their game.

Hield requested a trade ages ago and has been a good soldier since, might have just been a combo of doing him a solid and preventing the chance he became more of a locker-room nuisance post-deadline if he still wasn't getting the minutes he wanted.

I really don't mind it for Indy. It's not great value, but it opens up minutes for their younger guys and they land a couple low-level assets. As good as they have been this year, I still don't see them as true championship contenders, so I'm fine with taking a small step back if it gives them a chance to develop more.

Edit: it's apparently the Toronto 2024 2nd as well, which is currently #36. That's plus two more really isn't bad value at the end of the day.

2) Bobby Marks from ESPN said a couple weeks ago that he could see Boston making a move for a wing, and the 2 names he dropped as potential targets were Naji Marshall and John Konchar
3) Naji Marshall mysteriously sits out last night's game with a "back" injury. Pelicans beat the Clippers in that game by 11, They played 12 guys..none were Marshall so I guess they don't need him anymore
4) Marshall fits the Grant TPE

Oh and here's a clip of Marshall schooling SGA:

I'd be happy going into the break with Tillman and Marshall as the additions. Both of them fill a particular need that I think will help the Celtics in general, not just the bench. I'm not sure how to best describe it, but they have an air of toughness and attitude. Sort of like the Marcus Morris factor that's been missing from the team.

For the bench role, Marshall isn't the ideal offensive force perhaps, but has one of the better balance of offense/defense from what may be available with the TPE. And his 3pt shooting is not bad this year, at 36% that is serviceable.

So Brad was looking for a big wing and he could get a small big and a big wing, both able to spot fill for the starters -- Tillman for KP and Horford, Marshall for JB, JT and maybe White.

Yeah that's a good point, more about the player. My memory of it was he wanted a big extension and wasn't getting it, so wanted to move. I guess I just don't get why they don't offer him the extension but makes sense maybe still a player logjam that needed resolved, sort of similar to Brogdon.

Just seems like they are almost wholly predicated on their shooting and he's a big part of that, more so than a bunch of guys that seem like they are shooting over their heads for the time being.

Grimes for Burks makes sense. Would have liked him here but was not in the cards obviously.

There goes that Burks.

Oh well, he was too expensive for us anyway. Back to NY, and Hayward back out West. Nice moves by playoff teams to get some vet experience, whereas DET and CHA are not going anywhere this year.

There's still a lot of guys out there that fit into the Grant TPE. I think Brad comes up with it before the bell.

Hield requested a trade.

Sure, they didn't *have* to trade him, but they probably didn't want a disgruntled player on the team anymore so took the best offer they could get for him.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Most of the trades so far have seemed pretty reasonable and mutually beneficial.
