Don’t know where Sidery is grabbing this from, but if true, it’s kind of the best 3 2nds Philly has?

I'm surprised Philly would take on this money, tbh.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

They’re cutting salary here? All 3 players involved are expiring.

Do people expect Morris to be, 1, Waived, 2, bought out, 3, flipped, or 4, kept?

Ah, you're correct. My brain hasn't yet accepted that 2024 is the current season.

1, 2, or 3. Definitely not 4.

Torontos this year.

Portland and Lac in the future

So all three good ones are gone.

So this one is an interesting one. Two team in the same conference that are playoff teams making a deal with a win now player is not the most common trade out there. But I think it makes a lot of sense when you break it down. Hield was ready to move on and while Indy could have kept him for their own playoff run, they made a proper self assessment and determined that Hield was not going to be a big difference maker for them and was not going to be resigned. So they went to the trade market to find that Hield only has marginal value and not a lot of suiters (like plenty of posters have been saying all along). Ideally their trading partner is not Philly but you have to take the value where you can and lets be honest Hield is not some huge series shifting guy more than likely.

Philly---Hield is not really the ideal fit here but serves a good enough bandaid to get enough offense while Embiid is out. When Embiid is back he will still be useful as a specialist off the bench. Saved around 3 million here which likely accounts for one of the 2nds. I would have like Philly to try to get IJAX or Smith here too to shore up their center rotation but that didn't happen.

Indy (B+) Sold a player for what he was worth that was not a part of their big plan
Philly (B+) Bought a contributor while trimming their tax burden

I was hoping for Batum but I trust our management. I have to assume that Haliburton was consulted.

I llke this deal for Philly.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Solid move by Philly. Not a game changer by any means, but competent veteran depth is competent veteran depth. Didn't realize Hield is already 31. I feel old.

So, Philly kept the cap space plan, kept the potential for a 5 1st offer this summer, ducked the tax, and (slightly more than) marginally improved all for just a few 2nds this trade deadline?
If it weren't for the whole no Embiid thing, I would feel great as a fan.

Philly had a really solid deadline. I don't love the Pat Bev deal but everything else was strong.
