It has to stay worded that way as there’s no guarantee of which team’s pick Toronto or Washington get. All four picks need to be factored into both trades in case of some surprise later in the season..

2nd worst is LAC pick, no?

Interesting to see what is the final wording in the trade agreement. For WAS, selecting in the draft #26 vs. #13 is a big difference...

Yeah. One feels like an underpay and one an overpay.

Dallas’ side doesn’t change, but I don’t think Presti is giving up a likely lottery pick for a distant swap. So seems very likely that it’s the late pick right?

Like Gafford’s value doesn’t factor into OKC’s trade. OKC is getting a swap for a first. Would any team trade a likely lottery pick for an unknown swap? Would look terrible for them.

But yeah Presti should have cut Dallas out and took Gafford. Without question.

And this being a good trade for Dallas doesn’t make it a good deadline for Dallas.

Yeah. I think Frichuela was going for “second latest of the picks OKC ends up with” but that pick is clearly more valuable than a swap and seconds. So not expecting that.

of course they are better. That's not the question.

The question is how much did they overpay to get better but not better enough?

jay thinks Dallas can recoup value out of Washington/Gafford later if need be. I'm less optimistic about that.

DJJ should definitely get the start over Green. He's far more consistent and aggressive

Yeah I think Dallas overpaid.. but they wanted young decent players. Cost them an FRP and Swap with minimal protection.

Only took on 870k

Your Wiggins deal isn’t dead yet but likely needs some help.

So what did Dallas give up to get that OKC pick? Clearly its something they overpaid for cause otherwise why wouldnt OKC just get Gafford themselves? He fills a need there

This is a good trade for all though.

Moving on from PJ for a minute...

Like this the least for Washington. The most for OKC, and it a worthwhile risk for Dallas.

Love betting against Dallas the year after Luka’s contract expires.

Washington was owed more. This isn’t a good first and Gafford is really useful and cheap.

This is how Dallas has operated since Cuban took over the team. They make as few first round picks as they can. Constantly dealing out futures and often dealing the rights to their 1st on draft day.

Not sure its smart, but this part just isn't unusual for Dallas fans. And when we had Dirk and these picks were always in the mid to late 20's it was for the best especially since when we made a pick, we constantly made terrible ones. Dallas had one first round pick between Josh Howard and Luka finish his rookie contract with the team. And he sucked. Many of them didn't even finish out their 1st round contract in the league.

Why did Washington do this? The pick is going to be whatever, Holmes does nothing for them, they are young and going nowhere, why give up your best young C in this sort of deal?

I don't get it. Maybe Gafford was about to punch Poole in the face?
