I’d be curious to see how many teams have gone 3 consecutive deadlines without a trade since the merger. If we can’t be good, I hope we’re historic.

The Bulls most certainly could've gotten some good 2nds for Derozan.

Good thing we won't do anything that silly. Extremely high chance they wouldn't be worth anything, especially because they probably wouldn't get a chance to play.

Just say no to meh draft picks!

A pick in the 30s isn't that different value wise from a late FRP. You aren't getting a FRP for an expiring Derozan.

Agreed, both late firsts and seconds suck. Even half a season of Demar is worth more.

The obvious outcome. The Bulls play to make the play-in and that's what they'll do.

Either homecourt advantage in the play-in or there's a shot at the sixth seed.
I don't think people realize that for the last 2 months, the Bulls have been a top 10 NBA team.

Do I think they are a conference title contender? No. But could they give a team hell in a first round playoff series? Sure.

Cowley is such a turd. The definition of a rabble-rouser.

Not sure what you want? He could either lie and simp for the front office that sucks or tell you the truth

You're working under the assumption that Joe Cowley knows anything. I am not. This reeks of pure opinion and baseless speculation on his part.

i get not moving off a guy like caruso given the market conditions, still has a year under contract, etc., but man the idea that we would have this kind of season, a major piece demanding a trade, two expiring vets who would be useful two a contender, and still not make a single trade...it defies belief. a month or two ago, only the biggest front office cynic would have bought the idea that we would stand completely still.

seems like ak might not be great at this

AK said, "NO DEAL!"

Actually, that's a pretty interesting statement. Clearly someone was saying moves needed to be made, and made that known to Cowley.

Which is the first time something like that has happened with the Bulls in a while

Cowley claimed two things:

1. Others within the FO wanted movement
2. AK has final say

Which of these doesn’t sound credible to you?

Good deadline for New York and Dallas.

No one else really did anything noteworthy - whether competing now or looking for future assets.

The market is clearly showing it was a pretty meh deadline.

I’d say it’s more likely that ownership and management and content with putting out a solid product that has a good chance of making the playoffs. Nothing more, nothing less.

This year is the first time I have ever begun to reconsider my Bulls fandom. If the summer shakes out like the above, I think I will make the break-up official.

He's not. The Bulls are 19-13 since a 5-14 start despite injuries. Also, they have not lost more than two games in a row once since that stretch. There's a deep lack of faith in a team that's competitive but not a contender here on this forum. The Bulls are not a bad team by any stretch. Elite? No, not at all. But depending on the matchup they could certainly be a tough out in a playoff series.

A "solid product" with a "good chance of making the playoffs?"

The Bulls are under .500 and ESPN projects them as currently having only a 9.7% chance of making the playoffs.
