What an awful trade. The 25th-30th pick is 85% more likely going to be a scrub. Gafford is at least a playable NBA player.

I’m trusting this new regime to pick well at 26…Eden, McCullers, Holmes are possibilities.

Such a huge difference between 13 and 26. Oh well, they should have been loaded up with seconds as well.

Are you guys kidding me?

Gafford was a second-round pick. He developed nicely. But he’s a 22-min a game player.

Getting a lottery pick for him? Are you crazy?

The point is to acquire firsts. That’s the mission now. Acquire firsts and start over. And hope that Dawkins and Schlenk have the mojo to find a Siakam (who went #27).

I’m elated.

It’s not a haul. But it’s also not two or three 2nd-rounders in the range of 45-60.

Yeah, the deal is fine. It’s no longer a home run, but it still makes good sense.

Just trade it for a future 1st. This draft is total --- anyway and we are continuing full tank mode next year. I want fewer '24 picks, and more future picks, not more from a ---- class.

We don't have Ernie or Tommy anymore. I trust that Dawkins and Winger know what they're doing, but I assume this was Ted forcing them to find at least one more first-round pick in this year's draft. Ted is always going to Ted.

To get even a late first for Gafford, an improving but middling starter on a horrible team, is fine with me.

When was the last draft that actually turned out to be weak? Ive heard the weak draft narrative before but in hindsight there were a lot of good players to be had.

There are so many international players in the draft now that i don't weak drafts are really a thing any more.

Why blame this on Ted? It actually might part of Winger-Dawkins strategy for building a competitive team.

Folks here keep complaining about this being a weak draft. Well, late first round and second round gems are there to be found in EVERY draft.

When there are reports of a mandate to acquire 1st round picks, you can blame Turd. Gafford at his reasonable salary was worth more than the 25th-30th pick. Gafford can at least play in the NBA. That pick will likely be out of the league more often than not after 3 years.

Trading a player for a first. Any first. Is ever a bad trade unless they were worth two firsts. Selections are what every after top 5. There are alstar and starter/ heavy minute cal players that go undrafted last every year and definitely a few that go in the second every year. So late firsts are good and you can use them as currency. Firsts are firsts and seconds are seconds.you don't turn down a pick for gafford because it's a lower first. Gafford was out played by Bagley and wasn't going to keep that starting job. You traded a bench center making 13 mill a year for a first that's good value.

I don't blame Ted for the pick or trade other than that he might have wanted any first-rounder in a bad draft. Allegedy, he wanted to get as many picks as possible so I guess that story was false. At the time, I thought we were possibly making one more deal. I guess we couldn't get a first for Jones.

What are the odds that Kawai will get injured and will be out for a good portion of the remaining games?

Clippers are injury prone and that pick could change in a hurry.
