No Herro has a 2.5 million games played incentive in his contract that he’s already not going to hit that’s currently being accounted for in the numbers. Just hoping not sure if that’s a backdoor way we can operate as a 1st apron team but that’s probably just wishful thinking

This has nothing to do with Micky saving money. The front office has mismanaged the cap. We are a damn 2nd apron team. We need to shed salary in order to sign premium buyout players. Read the new CBA
Amazing how people keep this myth going that Mickey isnt spending money. The team been one of the top salary teams for a while now.

In all the Heat don't want the same players that many in here want.

Being top salary team and paying additional tax are two completely different things that teams that go all in do, like GSW, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, LA Lakers, LA Clippers when they had their champ windows. We make it a point to stay away from the Tax as much as possible, multiple trades done just for that purpose with the emphasis on saving first and then team building.

Both Bam and Herro have incentives. Unless this team wins a chip the core will be broken up this summer

It's THE MINIMUM we should do, open 2 roster spots

They didnt have the 2nd round draft capital to dump them. I believe both Dinwiddie and Morris are above the threshold that they can sign.

We have a SRP to trade.

If we dumped Dru Smith and Bryant we could have signed both Morris and Spencer Dinwiddie (if they wanted to join us)

It just...makes no sense.

We kept those dead weights....why?!

We only have one roster spot open with Dru Smith clogging up the 14th spot. Just makes no sense

They could not dump both contracts with one pick, the Knicks came off of 2 to unload Fournier.

I swear that's the only reasonable explanation.

Why TF are we keeping Dru Smith and Bryant if dumping could let us add Marcus Morris and Spencer Dinwiddie?

It makes no sense...no body is this amateurish

That would be correct this year, all of the players incentives count towards the cap, but once the season ends, those incentives go away and the team gains financial savings against the Apron. Herro has like a 31M dollar Cap Hold due to incentives but will come back down to 28.5M once the season ends since he won't hit a single one of them.

Their minimum salary players, there's ZERO chance we couldn't dump them.

And not dumping them conisering the type of talents it would have allowed us to add...it's just......un **** explainable

You have absolutely no idea what I am talking about so I'm going to link the financials for you

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/miami-heat/cap/

If you look at Tyler Herro's figure he has 2.5 million in unlikely incentives cause he's already missed enough games. That 2.5 is still accounted for in the books. I was just saying if there was a backdoor way that the team can operate as a first apron team knowing that by the end of the year that 2.5 million will be off the books and that would put is under the 2nd apron threshold.

Once the Tucker and Lowry team failed and Herro and Butler got a huge pay raise, the Heat were preparing themselves for a huge change. They started valuing draft picks. They are not giving up on targeting a star. They are not gonna spend on role players

I agree with this take, there has been a serious change in the FO philosophy when it comes to young players and picks that was never there. The Apron definitely has changed many FO's thinking, Miami still recovering from previous mistakes of just letting picks fly off the shelve for everything.
