Based on his salary, and what he cost to acquire, they 1. like the potential of Springer, or 2. want a salary or two to trade next year.

Re: Buyout/Free Agent Thread, 2023-24
So we basically go from Stevens and Banton to Springer and Tillman and send out 3 second rounders. Brad will turn #30 this year into several seconds so not worried. We definitely added some dudes that play D. A good Yang to Pritchard, Hauser and Kornets Yin.
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

15 trades, 39 players moved today.
That's why the NBA Trading Deadline is the best of the four Pro Sports...

Two hours delayed reaction, but I thought Bogdanovic was worth two 1st round picks? Knicks did well. Deepest team in the league? Other than the Clips?

TPE's aren't something that you can use "use". It's not that simple or easy.
It's not like grabbing a carton of milk off the shelf at a grocery store and going on your merry way.
It takes 2 teams to make a trade. Brad can't just "use" the TPE. He needs a second team that will actually be willing to agree to the trade..a GM who is willing to give us a good player in exchange for the crappy assets that we have to offer. Teams aren't lining up to trade for Svi or Banton. Teams don't want our 2nd round picks. Teams don't want our late 1st round picks..and anyone who actually fits into the TPE likely isn't someone who is good enough to trade a 1st round pick for..
Teams aren't incentivized to help make the best team in the league even better.
And most TPE's go unused..
Understandable, but the Celtics seem to too frequently let their TPEs expire or even not use parts of them.
Money should not be an object when you are in GFIN Mode, and they surely are.
Money is no object. But we still need the other team to agree to the trade.
And again, most TPE's go unused. Not just for the Celtics but for all teams.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Now Brad, let's get Joe Harris on the buyout for bench shooting!
Do people not read replies? lol. Been stated multiple times C's can't sign anyone who makes over 12.4 million this year, which includes Joe Harris.
So many posts to read. I missed that. Yeah, no Joe.

Bulls and Hawks are the two worst-managed teams in the league. Charlotte sucks but has bad luck, too.

Eh. Deep on the wing. More than they need. No backup point guard, except Burks and Divincenzo, and Hartenstein's their only backup big.
But Fournier was a bust, the net value of roster went way up, more trade flexibility in the summer now.

So I've previously read Olynyk couldn't be signed as a buyout, yet his salary (either this year or the duration of his contract (average annual value) is a sliver under $12.4 million. Is he available or not to 2nd apron teams if Toronto buys him out?

Re: Buyout/Free Agent Thread, 2023-24
I didn't realize Springer's a "combo guard", so he's basically a reroll on Banton- third string guard who's young, cheap, and has some upside.
Tillman's a "4" who's quick enough to switch but strong enough to guard big centers and hold his own.
So do they want a wing on the buyout market? Or do they want to convert Queta and try to lock him in for a couple of years on small money?
