I've read in this forum it's the Knicks championship to take. Interesting! No Joke!

Seems to me that another ball handler would be the biggest "need" on the buyout market. White can slide to the PG spot obviously, but another guy would be key to giving ourselves the flexibility to rest Holiday and/or White as we choose.
It's popular idea to convert Queta to an NBA deal, but feels like a poor use of a roster spot we we're currently built.

Like I can't even believe someone with the Mavs mentioned that to the reporter and I can't believe the reporter then typed it and pressed send.

I don't think they can because they traded him within the last 12 months. But if that isn't the case then yeah he's perfect for this team.

I thought you were supposed to wait a year after high school before signing guys to the NBA. How did the Mavs end up with a roster full of middle schoolers ?

Yeah, these were both very strategic trades with defense in mind.
I've got a sneaky feeling that one of the guys they have in mind who will be a matchup where Springer is used is....
Tyrese Maxey!
-We've had trouble defending Maxey in the past
-Sixers are one of the teams we're battling in the East
-Springer has been going against Maxey in practice for 3 years now..he knows all his moves
We've had trouble defending really quick, explosive, shifty, skilled guards..who can explode to the rim but also hit jumpers. Guys like Maxey, Mitchell (and Garland)..also guys like SGA, Jamal Murray, Steph and Brunson have given us problems.
Sounds like they will use Springer for those types of matchups.
Dame Lillard is another one..
There was an interview where Jrue even said that guys who are really quick/shifty like SGA give him problems. Perhaps Brad and stuff saw that and got someone is better equipped to defend those types of matchups. Especially with the addition of Hayward, it wouldn't shock me if OKC comes out of the west..
As for Tillman, a few matchups that come to mind where he could be useful - Giannis, Embiid, Bam. Also a guy like Randle we've had issues matching up with in the past..Jokic and AD..
BK_2020 wrote:We've been actually pretty good against Maxey. Game 1, he had 25 on 27 shots. Game 2 he did better. 20 on 15 and 5 FT for 58 TS%. Last year was the same, more bad games than good, reg season and playoffs.

We've had trouble defending shifty/quick step guards who can create for themselves in general, not just Maxey. There is an abundance of them we will face in a playoff run like Brunson, Maxey, Dame, Haliburton, Trae and to a lesser extent Garland, Rozier, Cole Anthony. I agree that they can use Springer for limited minutes to throw these guys of rhythm, It gives us something we didn't have so I like it

This type of expectations will get Joe RGM-fired again.
