why would we give up players for .263/.328/.423 when we can just sign a guy with a little less production?

and what makes you think lo duca will ever have another season like 2006? he's a 36 year old catcher. come on.

the only trade for a catcher i'd ever do is for either joe mauer or vic martinez. no one else is worth giving up our prospects. get pitching, omar. it'll affect our season a lot more than 1 spot in the lineup.

ramon is very well liked by peterson. he can handle pitchers and his track record of hitting is MUCH MUCH better then torrealba. we wouldn've had to give up to much.

by the way, hernandez will cost a high-end prospect. we probably will sign lo duca now because he's the only decent option out there short of trading for someone.

anyone know why the negotiations broke down?
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.

Double standard?

something to do with the mets being scared of his previous shoulder injuries.

hough neither side said so publicly, the Denver Post reported the New York Mets may have changed their mind on signing Colorado Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba because of his history of shoulder problems. Torrealba missed time in 2006 with two separate shoulder injuries.

According to The Post, there are no ongoing negotiations betweent he two parties.

The Florida Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Rockies and Mets pursued Torrealba last week. The field narrowed to the Rockies and Mets, with both sides engaging in serious discussions. When the Mets included a guaranteed third year, Torrealba was swayed. The Rockies' best proposal was a two-year, $7 million deal with a vesting option for a third year based on performance incentives.

I have to wonder now where this leaves us, does this mean Lo Duca is coming back? I wonder if he would even want to come back, him not being a top choice for us might irk him off a bit. Either way we need to get a catcher...
