I’d take Gallo but I’m really holding out hope for PJ Tucker coming back after a buyout with LAC. Bev and Pj are 2 vets I feel way more comfortable with Doc relying on them come the playoffs rather than him ignoring matchup problems with Bobby and Pat Connaughton like he’ll have to if there isn’t a better option.

PJ is stuck in LA and if he does get bought out it’s Miami

Is that anything more than speculation about Miami? Heard that for months about Dame too. Haven’t heard that about Pj yet. I know he’s stuck in LAC unfortunately, that’s why I said I’m holding out hope lol.

Pat Bev being a serious Horst target on behalf of Doc is different than if he was the last ditch attempt to do anything after failing at every other acquisition.

From Horst’s presser announcing the deal:

What does Patrick Beverley bring to the team?

Horst: We talked about, as we always do, try to identify pillars going into this things and ways that we will work to try to generate options and opportunities to improve. Without getting into all our pillars, in specific, the ones that he addresses, we believe, is point-of-attack defense and defensive versatility. So, he’s proven to be able to guard multiple positions in his career. He is an impactful point-of-attack defender who plays with a physicality and a toughness that we think will help us. I think it’s just kind of another player to add to the mix that plays with that physicality and that toughness we really think could help us. And then he’s obviously a capable scorer and shot-maker and he’s got a ton of experience. So, excited to have him.

How involved was head coach Doc Rivers in the process to land Beverley?

Horst: Very involved. You guys know how I like to work and value his opinion and need his opinion and his partnership in this. And I think he feels it already and has experienced it already. Obviously we had; we were together on most of the last road trip before I broke off, and so we had a lot of time to talk about the roster, talk about things that were presenting themselves, things that we were discussing and evaluating, shared our process and our information with him in the way that we always have and always will, and so very involved.

He was incredibly impactful and helpful in helping myself and the staff navigate this. And ultimately, I always feel like it’s our job to build a roster that can play and compete at its best in the way that the coach wants. I mean, he’s the one that has to play these guys, he’s the one that has to coach them and really try to maximize what they do. And so Pat ‘Bev’ is someone that together we thought could help us.

I'd skip the buyout geezers, sign a G Leaguer to multi year, non guaranteed deal.

Choosing to be bullish on Pat Bev until proven otherwise.

Per Shaffty and other reports it seems like we would have done the Mavs deal and sent that first elsewhere for something bigger, and we would have gotten Royce O’Neale if we could have.

Bev wasn’t the first choice of course. Murray, Caruso, DFS, Bruce Brown could have fallen into that category. And who knows what was going on with Wiggins lol.

But considering how cheap Pat Bev was to acquire I could see the Bucks being high on him vs other comparable options. That’s different than if we purely failed to acquire other combo guards we were linked to like Schroder, Dunn, Davion Mitchell, Delon Wright etc.

And now we have the extra assets to go after an upgrade in the offseason. Not ideal but I don’t think those other combo guards would be the difference btw us winning a championship or not this season.

It seems like reporting indicates it was mavs wanted just bobby for grant and we wanted the first ontop of it to part with bobby. So that deal was never really going anywhere.

Dont take my words as gospel anymore. I dont have the sources i used to ever since his daddy moved on
