Exactly. Wouldn't we want the big we pick up to be able to, you know, move and defend?

Doesn't seem to really plug any holes on the team at all.

It gives you another option instead of Bobby who will undoubtedly look unplayable at times in the playoffs. He's probably a better defender than Bobby still at this point.

Not sure why anybody would think Gallinari is the answer if they're worried about Portis in the playoffs

I mean there's just no way you're going to get me to subscribe to this idea that Gallinari wouldn't be an absolutely glaring defensive negative. He wasn't a good defender before he was 35 off 2 ACL injuries and he surely isn't now. We lament guys like Khris and Bobby for their defensive effort/ability and Gallinari is clearly a step slower than even them. If Bobby isn't playing in the playoffs, Gallinari ain't coming off that bench.

Who is even available as a defensive big on the buy-out market?

Aight I’ve seen a 2 minute highlight vid, I’m sold on Wenyen Gabriel.

Gallo would’ve been cool years ago, dude is not worth it at this point. He’s not gonna be playable against any good team in the playoffs and there’s just no upside there.

Thad Young I guess, but the real answer is no one.

Curious to see if the Wiz do Delon Wright a solid and buy him out. Front court would be thin, but he would easily be at the top of my list.

Not slower or worse on D than KM or Bobby, longer than KM, and he's more efficient on O than each.. not seeing a downside

He's way worse than Mids defensively, and isn't longer because he doesn't have Mids wingspan.

Players shoot poorly against Mids, he's great at using length and anticipation to contest.

I doubt he asks for a buyout, he already has a ring.

Thunder just signed Biyombo so you can take him off the bingo card.

I'm not so sure about that.

I'm just looking at it as not having many actual options and them needing to get minutes off the bench from someone. Bobby is terrible defensively and has plenty of games where he's also terrible offensively, so Gallo would just be another option on nights when Bobby completely forgets how to play basketball.

That being said, they aren't likely going to sign anyone actually playable.

A scout on Gallo defense...

"Danilo Gallinari is an average defender, he is comfortable defending players his size, but he struggles against smaller players. Gallinari lacks lateral quickness, which makes securing the perimeter against faster players almost impossible. Teams have forced the guard mismatch and roasted Gallinari off the switch.

Gallinari’s inability to guard smaller players does not mean that he is a bad defensive player. I would argue that Gallo finds ways to be active on that end of the floor without having outstanding athleticism. Gallinari is excellent at understanding a play and picking off passes."

Idk... if he's at the 4 for us will he have to switch a lot on wings?

I just really doubt that Middleton makes it through the playoffs and plays every game. We could use someone that can create their own buckets. I get that he will have issues defensively but Middleton has pretty limited lateral movement atm. Idk maybe Gallo plays center on D or something. I have the feeling our rotations are going to be wonky come playoff time regardless
