Monk is ok, but I think character issues and doesn’t really fit the archetype of players weham has targetted lately. Undersized decision makers doesn’t seem to be a thing for this management. 6’4” and above two-way players seem to be their M. O. lately.

These are my picks. Conley is perfect for us and what we need from that role in the short term. I like Monk as a reliable scoring punch off the bench if he’s happy to stay a 6th man.

Suggs/Monk
Conley/Black

That’s a quality backcourt that still has opportunities for our young guys.

Mike Conley will be 37 when the season starts next year. Age has caught up with him. he might be a good coach, but his contributing days are pretty much over.

his age is up there with him, but a valuable locker room presence. More important than Gary Harris whose body language is far from ideal as a locker room guy.

I have to agree about Conley. He would have been great this year...but next might be a year too late. He's got a really good situation in MIN, so, unless he really hates the cold, it would take way too much $$ to get him. I wonder if Conley has another year of high-level starting PG in him. I kind of think we missed by a bit with Ingles in the same way. You can see the contribution, in flashes, but he's just not up to a regular role, IMO.

I LOVE Joe Ingles, the player, the teammate, and the guy in general...but, despite our need for solid vet role models...I think we should get them a couple of years before they fall off the on-court cliff. Brogdon is still a very capable vet with one more year on his deal. That, to me, would have really made sense. But I like the concept...gives me something to spend countless hours researching  Who is the vet, heady, crafty player who is still physically viable enough to play a significant role...right around 27-31, has seen playoff combat, still good enough to command respect from the kids...not just a wise old resource to talk to.

I like Kelly Olynyk, Kyle Anderson, Bobby Portis types...guys that can play a solid rotation role, move the ball, hit shots. Quietly make winning plays...but we really do need a PG.

I want to like Monk, but I'm not sure he's really ever going to be a reliable starter. It'll cost starter money and a starter role to get him from SAC, IMO.

I'm leaning towards Jrue Holiday. Paolo and Franz will be lower max players since they're young. We could add a 3rd max player for a few years. If the Celtics don't win a title, they might not be willing to pay big dollars to Jrue.

If he opts out, he'll be an FA and possibly looking for one more big deal. If things don't end well this season, he could look to go to state tax-free Florida. We could offer a 4 yr. $150m contract.

I low key like this idea. Sell him on being a veteran presence and floor spacer vs the stress of being a splash brother.

I wouldn’t touch Jrue.

His decline has been tougher to spot because he is shooting the 3 so well this year, but he’s lost pretty much all his juice off the bounce.

He’s on a team which is tied for the 2nd best record in the league. He’s shootinf 45% from 3 on nearly 6 attempts a game, averaging 6.5apg to 1 tov, and he can defend. He’s the perfect veteran who’s shown he knows how to share playmaking with stars like Mitchell and Edwards. He knows how to be a part of a top tier defense. He knows how to lead a team during the regular season to great records. And in a year or two he’ll be able to handover to AB full time naturally.

Klay's name supercedes his talent at this point. I'm not sure he's much better than Ingles.

Immanuel Quickly thats it. If raptors match then look into trade market. I think Collin Sexton is realistic and can be had for right price. Great contract, pesky defender, can shoot 3pt, having career year and only 25yo.

Klay's problem is that he is now guy who need to hide on defense. If that's a case, and it is, than there is no difference between him or some Lavine, hell Lavine will probably give you more.

$70m per year…but only if he provides proof that he’s over 35 and has a permanent impairment rating of 25% :D

I love the guy but wouldn’t touch him.

Lavine will be better for sure, but also more expensive, this is what he is owed the next 3 years -
2024-25 - $43,031,940
2025-26 - $45,999,660
2026-27 - $48,967,380

I hope no one is going to offer such contract to Klay right now. On the other hand, we need more ball handling for our guards, so i dont think he is the perfect fit.
