Pistons meet Grizz

Post#1 » by Det313Pound » Thu Feb 15, 2024 6:16 am

Pistons trade Cade, Duren, and 24 1st and filler for Morant

Pistons allocate resources and build around Ja.

Grizzlies retool with younger pieces.

Fair or foul?

Ja is one of the most fearless and exciting players alive. It would be great to have him on our team. But that’s a huge package you’re offering. I’d pass.

I’m confident Cade will be an All Star soon, but maybe never be in an MVP discussion. Does that mean he should be traded since he may not live up to #1 pick expectations? I’d rather not.

Spurs fan here. As a basketball player, I do think Ja is so far above Cade that he's worth the other assets, though I think Ivey would be a more sensible inclusion. The problem is the baggage he comes with. If you're confident he's put his issues behind, it's worth it basketball wise. But I'm risk averse and I would feel uneasy pulling the trigger on this.

I would keep Duren and move Cunningham. LOL at him being an all-star soon....he needs to be a competent, consistent NBA player first before he gets the all-star nod.

Foul only because it doesn't really make sense.
Jah has proven he is what separates the Griz from being a bottom-3 team vs being a playoff team so not trading him. Also sending him to Detroit is basically saying "what do you guys think about Jah getting into a real gun fight?"

Love the Cade-Grimes pairing. Ivey, Sasser, Duran area all solid and will develop. Thompson obviously has the tools to be all-NBA.

Having said all of that, I would call Memphis and try to get a deal done for JJJ featuring Thompson, Stew (if he is not completely arrested), and picks (can trade '24 day of, can offer a swap 2025, can get creative with other pick inclusions).

Stew-Clarke-Thompson-Bane-Jah is a pretty interesting team

meanwhile

Duran-JJJ-Cade-Grimes-Ivey should be ready to compete.

Not sure what MEM would WANT to do, but if they retain Kennard for his salary or trade him on draft night, they could swap him out for a guy like Timelord, maybe talk NY out of Robinson, Tor out of their big man etc.

Foul
Grizz are win now team with a big asset on the way.
Only deal involving the Pistons that would interest us is the 24 lotto pick this year for Duren.

That’s not an unreasonable offer for Ja. Well done. If the Grizzlies decide to move Ja, this one should be on their table. I expect that they would rather move Bane given Ja’s superior clutch skills which, together with superior leadership skills, you need the most to become a champion.

I like your idea. Wanna open the thread? I would add Ziare or LaRavia as a bonus.

That´s a pretty bad offer. JJJ´s starting price is at least two out of Cade/Duren/2025 1st unprotected

Well, the Knicks hold DET 2025 (heavily protected) so hence where the swap comes into play.

I think Thompson because of the position he plays and where he is on his contract arc carries pretty hefty value. Playing with up-tempo Jah and in a scenario where he would be playing with more accomplished players would make the game easier for him.

Basically he and his brother are two Andre Iguodala types. Duran has been awesome, but obviously I believe he has the lower ceiling.

JJJ’s price is ridiculous. I feel sorry for anyone who will try to come up with an offer even remotely acceptable to Memphis.

I'm not completely against trading Cade either for assets (picks mostly) or in a package for a star, but Ja wouldn't be my target. If we're going to bring in a franchise centerpiece, it needs to be someone with shooting and defense, IMO.

A fair offer but not one I think Memphis would take right now given our desire to try and contend with our current core.
