Flipowski was a projected late lottery pick last year in a much, much better draft class. He really should be getting looked at in the top half of the lottery. If we end up picking at 7 or 8 I think he should be near the top of our board.

Yeah, Cliff would love having a stretch 5 again with real size. I like him, but even at 7 or 8 I would probably prioritize other guys with higher ceilings or more diverse skill sets.

One guy I think is getting overlooked is Ja'Kobe Walter. Great size, has shown flashes for Baylor, and is currently leading the team in ppg as a true freshman.

I'll be the first to admit, this is a highlight tape and thus, we don't get to see his negatives. He struggled to crack Baylor's rotation for consistent, solid minutes, and his box scores are hot and cold. BUT, I see his willingness to shoot the 3, coupled with a smooth shooting stroke. There's a lot to develop here, namely, can he create? The tools are there though and that's why I think he deserves a solid look.

To stand out on Drew's team you have to do it all and I think he has shown enough to be a prospect worth developing. I'm never a fan of drafting for fit, ESPECIALLY in the top 5 of a draft -- but it's hard not to watch his tape and see how he would seamlessly fit in.

It may be that come tournament time he has some signature moments and boosts his draft stock but I'm getting ahead here on a young guy who looks tantalizing for his future outlook. He hasn't even turned 20. I'd love to get some interview pieces and see does he love ball? I want guys who love ball, in the Tre Mann mold, where everyone raves about work ethic.

What is everyone's thought here? I see a little Josh Hart to his game and that is a winning player to me. Would love to see his buzz pick up.

If we win a bit more and play ourselves out of a top 3 or 4 pick he would be my guy.

We already are more likely to not pick in the top 3-4.

https://www.tankathon.com/pick_odds
48.1% chance to have our lottery ball selected in the top 4.
51.9% we pick 5-8.

It certainly appears if we keep up this new-look/attitude/style of play, that we will fall out of the top-4.

If it means bringing a winning culture with buy-ins from the team as a collective whole, I'm all for it. Dropping to 8-10 in this draft does not bother me 1 iota. We have our depth/bench lined up nicely, we have 3 (potentially 4) young, core players that balance each other out. We add a Ja'Kobe Walter/Holland/Buzelis/Knecht at the 2, we will be a feared, dynamic up-and-coming team that will be vying for the playoffs very soon.

Spend our cap space on Miles, continue to groom NSJ, Bailey and Nnaji in GBoro and let Langdon/Peterson (wishful thinking) cook.

We are only 1 game ahead of Spurs, 3 games behind Blazers and 6 games behind Grizz/Raps.

I would be surprised if we land outside the top 5 even with new additions, unless LaMelo starts to play. Then maybe we pass a few more, but I don't think Curry, Grant and Mann are going to play this well all time time.

Thats the reason why I scout the WHOLE DRAFT is because of things like this. We acquire Tre Mann (who was a sleeper of mine) and win, the season changes. Dalton Knect (who is on my current board) is now projected as a player we could draft. Nothing has changed in my picks this year just two more guys Pop Isaacs and Johnell Davis

These are two players who I LOVE and hope we consider.

Ryan Dunn

Buzelis in the Rising Stars this weekend:

?s=20
ESPN Grade
Matas Buzelis, G League Ignite
Grade: B+

Game 1: 7 PTS | 3-7 FG | 2 REB | 2 AST
Final: 0 PTS | 0-3 FG | 0-1 3PT | 1 STL

Analysis

The highest-rated prospect on G League Ignite at No. 6 in ESPN's rankings, Buzelis sent Team Detlef to the final by knocking down a difficult turnaround jumper after an extended offensive drought.

He also showcased his shotmaking by hitting a step-back jumper with a high release and a contested 3. That didn't carry over to the final, where Buzelis missed all three of his shots and dribbled the ball off his foot for a turnover.

Buz-elis in Buzz City feels pre-destined.

Looks like we better start looking at some lesser players now that we are starting to win games.

I think Williams/Risacher are no longer realistic sadly.

I would honestly see if we can trade that pick for a established player.

Could we get Herb Jones for our lottery pick?

I don't know how good Herb Jones is but I'm never going to trade a lottery pick for anyone named Herb Jones

I had a pet rooster named Herb as a kid.

True story.

Not sure why Naithan George is not the top rated PG by draft experts this year. That dude is legit. also s/o to one of my sleepers KJ Simpson last night for destroying USC. I love that little guys game.

I had Devin Carter rated really high last year but didn't realize he was doing so well stat wise this year sheesh. Almost forgot about him.

If we pick at 6-8 I'd do it.
