The All Star game in a nutshell

Post#1 » by Iwasawitness » Mon Feb 19, 2024 3:14 am

I don't think there's any clip that perfectly sums up why the all star game sucks now more than this one.

-No effort being given by either team.
-Embarrassing play.
-No one cares.

I look forward to the day when that one person gets named to the all star game, and gives 100% effort. But it looks like this isn't the year for that.

I'm surprised he didn't complain to the rim for the next five minutes.

When was the last time the All Star game was supposed to be serious? I have been watching the game for 20+ years and it always been about having fun. No one takes it seriously until the end.

For comparison's sake, the 1993 ASG. More effort and contested shots in the first few minutes of this highlight clip than in the last 10 All Star games put together

Remember when Kobe told LeBron to shoot the damn ball? It was pretty much after Kobe retired that it stopped being taken seriously.

Basketball without defense is not basketball at all. It’s drilling.

The year they dedicated the ASG to Kobe and they did Elam ending was pretty exciting cause most players took it seriously. As for past AS games, it wasn’t taken as serious as a regular season game, but there was some competitiveness. Especially when players were wanting to win the ASG MVP, you can see the extra effort. Now it’s players mostly not wanting to injure themselves and it’s basically a layup line.

2018 and 2020 were very competitive.

Shooting 3s isn’t exciting. Atleast if these guys were out here doing athletic dunks it wouldn’t be as bad. But not many of those guys exist anymore. We used to see some extreme athleticism displayed in the all star game.

Pride is missing as well

Hopefully this is the official end of a joke of a game the ASG has become.

These games were rarely taken seriously until it got close. I remember Jordan shooting free throws with his eyes closed. It was always about the highlights.

I don't know man. Only 300 shots yet still averaging 1 block per 100 shots.

The fact that you can bet on the MVP, and then vote on the MVP is very interesting

This Barkley, Green alt cast needs to become a thing yesterday. Maybe for the finals or something. Charles should have one for sure.

He's amazing at it, I typically hate these Alt cast because I can't follow the games, but this game sucks and Charles has been hilarious
