Re: OT: TV and Movies
Twisters: That's an awful movie trailer, but I'm still stoked for the movie.
TD S4: I'm enjoying it, but the awkward needle drops are killing me, and it continues to suffer for being named True Detective.
Daily Show: He's still got it, but I'm glad he's only doing one show per week, because the big bad (cable news) of his first run is basically dead, and I don't know how well his style can handle the new, diffused monster of social media.

Started watching Silo last night as a random pick. Am I in for a good time? Seems interesting one episode in.

Have you read the trilogy? I'd read it before the series, personally (if you're into literacy... do Aussie's read? Are your letters upsidedown too?)

Our letters are entirely up the right way, yours are upside down.
I have not read them and generally have been bad at recreational reading the last few years as my work reading has increased. Kinda sucks as far as side effects of work goes. I probably should put in some more effort.

Another strong episode of Halo this week. It's wild how the show went from bad and forgettable in S1 to must-see as soon as it drops in S2.

Speaking of your letters being upside down... do you guys really do "scissors, paper, rock"?

I am and have always been a scissors, paper, rock man.
The animation of the original was so rough at times but it was a quality show. Hope this lives up to peoples excitement.

Strongly recommend Fisk on Netflix. Hilarious Aussie comedy series.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Watched the first two episodes of Mrs. Davis and was bewildered for most of the first episode and fully on board by like 1/4 through the 2nd episode. Very fun show front loaded with offbeat exposition. Took a little acclimating.

The episode where it all comes together was one of the best episodes of TV I saw all year.

Strange answer, but I think a main measure of a TD season is how things get wrapped up in the final episode. As wild and surreal as season 1 got, the resolution was satisfying and sensible. Season 3 was similar, in that even though some broader themes were explored (memory’s role in reality) the mystery was solved and the crime was resolved. I think tonight’s finale is going to ruin or redeem this season.

Re: OT: TV and Movies
True Detective was ambitious and I love that they swung for the fences. And February sucks, so I’m glad I gave it a chance.
But the plane didn’t land. It didn’t work. I do not recommend.
