I think it's interesting for all the talk about other players we've shown interest in or thought we should hypothetically go after some posters have worried about them having big egos and not willing to take a backseat to Paolo & Franz, even with no evidence of them being like that in their career

Klay has had huge ego problems, on a team who has won 4 chips & has Steph. Do you think he's gonna all of a sudden put his ego in check on one of the worst franchises by record past 12 yrs?

Klay also is a bad defender. He is 34. I couldnt see a worse acquisition for us to go for in FA considering how much he could hypothetically cost.

Read on Twitter

“Something to file away: Orlando has been increasingly mentioned as a potential suitor for Klay Thompson in free agency. The Magic’s available cap space is difficult to project this far out. That figure could rise as high as $45 million but depends on their future plans with free agents-to-be Markelle Fultz and Gary Harris as well as Jonathan Isaac (whose $17.4 million salary next season is non-guaranteed).”

I dunno. Klay @ 34 is arguably better then anyone we got at SG today. But what's the catch? Suggs at PG? Anthony Black to forever bench or develop him as a wing? Position less basketball with Paolo as Point Guard / Point Forward / Point center?

Edit : Maybe we can take the DNA from Klay / Ingles / Isaac and inject it into Houstan somehow?

only a suitor because we have cap space so its an easy mention.. We all know what's going to happen just like the deadline came and went like a wet fart
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Why do we want Klay? Does Weltman want to overpay another washed up vet to block Suggs from minutes? Cool.

Step 1: Fultz allowed to leave in FA

Step 2: Cole traded

Step 3: Starting caliber PG acquired

Step 4: Sign Klay

Step 5: Move Suggs to the bench and let him go balls to the wall for 25 MPG as the third guard

Step 6: Profit?

Klay is currently coming off the bench for a non playoff team.

I think the reason why teams are interested in Klay is pretty obvious *if* you believe he's more like the guy of the last 2 months (.577 TS% since 12/14) and not the guy of the first 2 months (.537 TS% up to 12/14).

If you think he's gonna be an 18-3-2 guy who shoots 40% from 3PT on heavy volume, doesn't need to dribble the ball at all really and has a long history of playoff success, then I certainly get it.

The guy scored 35 points and barely dribbled the ball in his last game, ya know?

But if you think he's completely washed defensively and is more like the Klay of the first two months of this season, then I can see why somebody wouldn't be interested much at all.

This isn't really a flex?

He's come off the bench for one game which was their most recent one, he played 28 minutes, scored 35 points and they won the game.

Yeah the point isn’t whether or not Klay can shoot a basketball.

The point is that Orlando would have to massively overpay a dude that has his best days 100% behind him. He has nothing to prove in Orlando outside of landing the fattest paycheck imaginable while phoning it in until he retires. Like all other guys Orlando is ever interested in.

No thanks. I’d rather use the cap space on a hungry point guard that can actually teach AB something instead of the clown show we have at that position currently.

He’s holding up the number of years he will want on his Orlando contract to be perpetually injured while collecting checks. That’s the reputation Orlando has as an organization.

Klay isn't my first choice, but there are definitely certain circumstances where I'd take him.

If my choices are...

Klay on a 2+1 or Fultz and Gary back on 1+1's, then go ahead and give me Klay.

I don't think people realize necessarily that the Magic are going to have to spend money on *something* this offseason just to hit the salary floor. So I'm certainly not against a big AAV, short-term deal like the Rockets did with FVV.

I think both the Heat and the Hawks will shed salary this summer.

The Magic are well-positioned to make a deal that makes sense.

I'd take Klay. Maybe Malik Monk also. We desperately need shooting. Klay is a veteran and he can be on fire from 3. Hall of Famer also

You know... if Klay gets afflicted by the Magic curse, where shooters lose their touch, then Klqy will be useless lol
