Talk about delusions of grandeur...

Someone needs to set this guy straight in the playoffs. Yeah yeah, he does it to Embiid every year. He's got a good record in the playoffs, but by no mean is he the best player in the world.

I'd argue the following are all better than him.

Embiid
Jokic
Giannis
Luka
SGA
Steph Curry
Kevin Durant
Jimmy Butler
LeBron James

My dude.
Yes, he isn't better than any of these guys. You can add a few more if you want to.
That's not the point though.
We want to win the championship. The leader of the team must have a winning mentality. Confidence. Leadership skills.
So, i want him to have this mindset.
He didn't downgrade anyone, he just spoke for himself.
I see no disrespect towards anyone.

I didn't say he was being disrespectful. This reads more like he's resting on his laurels. It insinuates he's accomplished a lot, when he's lacking in many areas.

I want him to say I need to get better. I need to win a chip, and I need to win an MVP. I need to be consistent in the playoffs, which comes in spurts. I need to improve my game, where its not so one dimensional.

When he says he's the best player in the world, it comes off as, oh that stuff doesn't matter, or I've accomplished a lot.

He has good playoff success, but I've not seen him take his game to another level in the playoffs like many on the list I shared do.

How is his game one dimensional?

Two ways you get there:

1, you win MVP, 2 you win a chip. Tatum has none of those, and he's on the most stacked team in the league, so no I don't think it's a given that he's the best player in the league because he's on the best team in the league.

Lol at the reactions on here. I seem to remember Embiid say stuff like he deserved MVP, and all ya'll called that cringe, and believed he shouldn't win it because of that. But someone can say they are the best player in the league?

LMAO this is like LeBron anointing himself the best player of all time in an interview with his homies. . You don't say that about yourself, you let others say that about you. That's the whole point. There is being self confident and then theres being insane. Tatum has done nothing in this league to deserve that rep.

I’m pretty sure no one hated on Embiid for saying he deserved to win mvp. In fact he actually alsosaid he believed he was the best in the world just this year but the fact that you didn’t know or remember speaks to what a little deal it is. And there shouldn’t be any restrictions to it. Just admit because a “Celtic” player said it you’re annoyed. Because Ant, Morant, Butler, and AD have all said exactly the same thing recently yet you’ve never made a thread for them.

LOL what rock did you live under the last 3 years?

Okay, give me a single piece of evidence…….I also like how you didn’t answer the rest.

He relies heavily on the midrange, and he's not great at it. A lot of 3s, that don't go in, when it matters the most.

Once example???

Look at the GB the last 3 years my guy. This board has been an Embiid hatefest since he started competing with Jokic for MVP. Look at the MVP thread and all you'll see is people questioning why he won last year.

Aren’t you the same guy that pretty much called everyone bullies for making negative posts about Embiid?

Now you’ve started a thread with “Hahahahahahahhahahahaha....” because a player thinks he’s good? I guarantee if you ask a few players they’ll say they’re the best or one of. Pretty basic sports psychology.

You’re right. Why didn’t Embiid set him straight in the playoffs? Instead he watched Tatum drop 3 after 3 in his face…

Count the number of anti Embiid threads, and compare it to the anti Celtics threads...

The two are not the same.

I've never said you can't call out Embiid. But the level of toxicity of the internet over him is unprecedented.

Every time the Celtics lose there are multiple threads that get bumped.

Every time this comes up, a player that thinks they are the best.....I am reminded of Jerry Rice.... Jerry Rice never told anyone he is the best...every time he was asked he said something to the effect of "you will never hear me say that"....then he proceeded to go to work like he was the guy that needed the most work on the team, like he could be cut in the next hour.

I think any time you are dealing with a player that HAS to be clutch, ie they need to take that next shot, or make that next throw...they need to be 100% certain that the ball will do exactly what they want the ball to do. You need that arrogance, that confidence.

On the flip side, if they act like they are the best, or dont need to put in the work, or don't need to take care of their body....you got a problem.

I guess my take on it, like everything else in life...is don't tell us....show us.

We can disagree but when you're the best player on the best team, I wouldn't accuse that guy of being delusional. It's one of those things where if you're wrong this is the best case for being wrong. It's a very solid argument.

I bet this loser hasn’t even brushed up on the current LEBRON, BPM, or RAPM ratings before making this statement.

I wonder how many actual ball players have been bullied off this board by spreadsheet enthusiasts over the years

You alone are responsible for majority of that well-deserved hatefest.
If there was the same delusional Jokic or Giannis fan on that board, these players would be hated no less.
And hell, you are not the best representative to point out fingers about questioning why he won last year when you still do it for previous Jokic's MVPs.
And back to the hatefest. Majority of that with Embiid was part of the MVP thread (I wonder, who made it alive with his delusional takes all the time), it weren't plenty of separate embiid-oriented topics, like the one you opened now on Tatum.

You have to be truly delusional to think Embiid's MVP and constant playoff failures matter more than Tatum's two trips to the Finals, and I'm saying it as someone who doesn't like Tatum at all

I think its interesting you're saying Luka is a better player than Tatum while Tatum is "one dimensional". I'm a huge Luka fan, but you can't put him above Tatum and claim its because Tatum is one dimensional. Doesn't make any sense.
