Nothing wrong with what he said even if it's not true.
He led his team to the finals two years ago and his team is currently #1 in the entire league.

He's clearly not, but I don't mind his confidence. You want that in your #1 option.

It doesn’t matter. We all know he doesn’t believe what he’s saying.
But to those saying “What’s he gonna say? Don’t you want him to say that?” As if it’s a requirement for being an elite player. It really isn’t. Jokic doesn’t consider himself the best even though he is, and clearly that hasn’t held him back in any regard.

No humility? I see a problem believing that when you're not.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

When he says he's the best player in the world, it comes off as, oh that stuff doesn't matter, or I've accomplished a lot.
He has good playoff success, but I've not seen him take his game to another level in the playoffs like many on the list I shared do.
How is his game one dimensional?
He relies heavily on the midrange, and he's not great at it. A lot of 3s, that don't go in, when it matters the most.
Are you talking about Tatum or Joel, Butler, and Giannis? He's smoked all of those guys, and been smoked by all of those guys. It's how it works when you are Top at what you do.
No one cares about that if you win, which is why people are bringing up KD when he got outplayed by JT in the PO's, Giannis who got outplayed in the playoffs, and Steph, who was getting the same treaatment you are giving JT now "Can't have big games when it matters, 3 ball doesn't fall in big moments, turnover prone in big games, etc etc..."
Tatum is a clear Top 10 player in the world, Top 5 offensive player, and arguably one of the best defenders at his position. His one drawback is his passing, Dudes averaging 27/9/6 in the last 66 playoff games. He has every right to think he's the best player in the league, because he's clearly the best player in the East, or has no reason to think he isn't given what he's done over the past 5 years

lmao this thread didn't go as eyeatoma planned.
Don't pay him no mind guys, he spent his entire time campaigning for MVP for Embiid the last 3 years. Now that Embiid wont qualify for MVP he has to find something else to do with his time. Give it until October 2024 for the Embiid MVP campaign to resume.

What do you expect him to say? You need this level of arrogance to compete with the best otherwise you shrink.

Nothing wrong in being confident no matter how wrong you are.
At least you’re proving it with your post
Tatum is not there yet

Talk about delusions of grandeur...
Someone needs to set this guy straight in the playoffs. Yeah yeah, he does it to Embiid every year. He's got a good record in the playoffs, but by no mean is he the best player in the world.
I'd argue the following are all better than him.
Embiid
Jokic
Giannis
Luka
SGA
Steph Curry
Kevin Durant
Jimmy Butler
LeBron James

Two ways you get there:
1, you win MVP, 2 you win a chip. Tatum has none of those, and he's on the most stacked team in the league, so no I don't think it's a given that he's the best player in the league because he's on the best team in the league.
Lol at the reactions on here. I seem to remember Embiid say stuff like he deserved MVP, and all ya'll called that cringe, and believed he shouldn't win it because of that. But someone can say they are the best player in the league?
LMAO this is like LeBron anointing himself the best player of all time in an interview with his homies. . You don't say that about yourself, you let others say that about you. That's the whole point. There is being self confident and then theres being insane. Tatum has done nothing in this league to deserve that rep.
Are you always like this?

the finals appearance was 2 years ago. he didn't say this before that. he even said giannis was the best player when asked the same question last year. only thing crazy here is your timeline.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their
shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and
you'll have their shoes.

Re: Jayson Tatum thinks he's the best player in the league
I mean lets take a quick look at his resume so far at still just 19 years old (25):
3x All NBA. 1st team the last 2 years
5x all star
4th in MVP voting last year, 6th the year before
Eastern Conference MVP
Dont get me wrong, Im not claiming he is the best player in the league (he's not). But he is in that range of top 5-7 in the league at just 25 years old. I hope he has the attitude that he is the best player in the league.
And Im not saying that just as a Tatum fan. Ya its one thing where if youre some borderline starter or something and you have this belief, that can end up hurting you. But if youre a top 10-15 player in this league, you better have that confidence and self belief in yourself.

I’m not knocking him if he feels that way, but he’s not the best player in the league. C’mon now

If any Top-10 player in the league doesn't have this mentality/confidence in themselves, then I don't want them on my team.

I don’t get it why you continue saying best team in the league ? Is Denver Nuggets as far as I’m concerned
Best player Jokic whole day everyday
To bad we can’t see Tatum vs Jokic , Jimmy comes and spank those Saltics once again

Exposed is a hard word to use when you consider people are rating Tatum lower than players who were never near a Finals. So it's better to never lead a player to the Finals than average 21ppg?
Tatum is not currently a top 5 player IMO. But the bar is clearly higher for him than anyone else in the running. Where the playoff failures of Embiid had no bearing on his winning MVP, ( and previously the odds on favorite this season) we call Tatum " exposed" for being in the Finals and Embiid "mvp" for never getting close.
FYI Tatum played through a broken left wrist in those playoffs . Do you remember how long Curry was out with an off arm injury?
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."
